Great. And I'm glad to see that Roundabout is now above Toccata. Is the criteria just general talent demonstrated, or are influence and all the usual factors considered?

There should be a great deal of Ray on the list. Basie I don't think though

If we don't have a separate piano list, I'm moving Blues Deluxe up a LOT. Nicky Hopkins is on fire on that track. I'm also thinking about adding "St. Augustine in Hell" by Sting with David Sancious for the same reason.

I'm going to have to put "Struttin'" by Billy Preston on here, possibly in the Top 20 or 30. 25 looks like a good spot. The whole thing is just insanely funky synth. Also "Outta-Space", which is one of the first uses of the clavinet in a funk setting. I can't believe it's taken me this long to get into him.

I also want to see Superstition moved up to at least 50.

EDIT: If no one protests in the next week, I'm putting "Outta-Space" at 16 and "Struttin" at 23.
EDIT 2: Done, but I put Struttin' at 24.

That's a pretty odd list. What are the criteria? What makes "Chosen" a greater performance than something like "No Quarter" or "Superstition"? Why is "Rat Bat Blue" #16 while "Child in Time" is #139 and "Burn" is #161? Why is it seemingly impossible for any of the editors to get Jens Johansson's name right?

I don't have a criteria as of now, but don't forget I took over editing the list from whoever did it before me. Performances in the context of the lists seem to be subjective anyway, and influence is fairly hard to trace properly for keyboard playing mostly because most of the great rock keyboardists came around the same time and most tend to have rather unique styles. Creativity is a huge factor though whenever I edit this list.

Rat Bat Blue happens to have an awesome multilayered harpsichord solo, whereas Child in Time is just chords. I would like to see Burn moved up heavily though (Top 30-40 or so) and Superstition moved up very, very high. I'd probably put it below Billy Preston's performances though.

And I just changed Johansson's entries to correct for his name.

EDIT: Just switched Rat Bat Blue with Chameleon by Herbie Hancock.

If you want, you could always check out criteria for other lists on DDD. This list seems more like a random collection of song titles.

"Child in Time" is one of the most recognizable intros in rock, and Lord harmonizing with Ritchie during the mid solo section was undoubtedly a big influence on a lot of metal bands that followed. "Burn" features an early example of using classically inspired leads in a hard rock/metal context.

Where do you see Child in Time, Aladdin Sane, and Burn? And what do you guys think of the performances I added and their placements?

I see "Child in Time" and "Burn" on the first page of this thread. That's the list I've been commenting on.
