Rush wants Deep Purple, Yes, King Crimson, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, The Moody Blues and Jethro Tull inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Lou Adler wants Johnny Rivers, Jan and Dean, and Cheech and Chong inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Three days until the ceremony and still no word on who is presenting Quincy Jones. It's starting to look more and more like Jann Wenner. Usher is performing though for Quincy Jones. |

BREAKING NEWS: James Pankow calls out Jann Wenner as the reason for Chicago's Rock Hall snub, among other things. Calling Rolling Stone a rag. I will post the full text from this recent radio interview. Rock Hall discussion starts at 25 minutes in. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/storytelle ... nd-chicago What is the overarching deal with the critics? My take on this over the years, first of all, Rolling Stone, I don’t know what’s going on with Jann Wenner. Somebody pissed him off. Somebody stepped on his toes. Might have been Jimmy Guercio, our original producer. We have not been inducted into the hall of fame. We get voted every year. From what I hear from inside sources, we are on all those best albums lists. The last desk is his and he scratches us off. Americans are obsessed with celebrity. Americans are obsessed with the bad boy aspect, all of the people rags, and celebrity obsession. This band focuses on the excellence of the art. The sensationalistic craving for celebrity is a boring journey. Nobody wants to talk about the art. Higher calling folks will acknowledge that. This obsession with celebrity leaves us out of the mix because it’s not about that with this band, it’s about this legacy of the music and there is nothing printable about that that is sensationalistic. There is a lot of value in what we have done over the years. It’s quite phenominal this legacy we have created but it is not sensationalistic. It’s not something you would want a typical reader of these rags to find interesting. They want to read about who did what to whom. Who went to jail for what. They want to read about somebody’s misfortune. They want to see that someone is worse off than they are. --James Pankow |

So all those special Rolling Stone magazine issues that you see in stores that list the 100 or 500 Greatest Artists and Albums of all-time, which are voted on by the artists themselves, Jann Wenner himself edits those lists and he removes artists he doesn't like, like Chicago, before the magazines are published and released to the public. |

Now that is some seriously wacky paranoia. I believe it. On a smaller level, Ronnie I, the guy who ran the United Group Harmony Association would have his members vote for their hall of fame and if someone who he didn't want in got voted in, he would just cross them off the list. He told me himself that Dion & the Belmonts were voted in by the membership but that he refused to induct them so he instead inserted some other group that he liked. |

Go to acclaimed music and look up Chicago. Is Jann Wenner removing them from every magazine's lists? |

Doesn't explain why Chicago doesn't seem to be in lists for Creem, Spin, Time, etc. Jann Wenner doesn't run every magazine. |
