How many of you had actually heard of Elizabeth Cotten? I'm waiting for Sampson's take on her.

Sampson probably hadn't or he wouldn't have misspelt her.

That would kind of highlight the fact that Belafonte doesn't have much to do with rock. If they wanted to point to Belafonte's connection to rock, that he helped popularize Jamaican music, they could do that by having a Jamaican artist such as Jimmy Cliff be his presenter.

Or maybe a Haitan, Wyclef Jean of Fugees. Or maybe Public Enemy.

The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame should make induction addendums for certain bands and announce them at the induction ceremonies, but the inductees would not attend. They would just have their names added as inductees with their bands on the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame website, and their Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame trophies would get mailed to them with the year they were supposed to be inducted included on the trophies, not the year the addendums were announced.

Elizabeth Cotten and Harry Belafonte are being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in the same year on purpose. This was planned. Elizabeth Cotten was the maid for Pete Seeger's father, Charles Seeger, and Pete Seeger's stepmother, Ruth Crawford Seeger. Harry Belafonte gave the induction speech for Pete Seeger at the 1996 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.
