BORING

And yet listening to Quadrophenia is the most moving and thrilling listening experience I have ever had.

I experienced a similar thing but with Tommy.

And Elton John is not in Buddy Holly's league in influence, and also not in Buddy Holly's league when it comes to the respect and admiration of rock artists that I believe falls into the category of musical impact.

That is so wrong. It's not only because of his death. It's also because of the body of work that he produced. Is Eddie Cochran as revered as Buddy Holly? Is Ritchie Valens? No. Not even close.

You're not following me here. I'm not saying that anybody who dies young is automatically a legend as big as Holly. I;m saying that anybody who dies young is automatically elevated to a much higher level than they deserve.

All three (Cochran, Holly, Valens) were elevated much above where they should have been because of the early deaths, although Cochran a little less because he died overseas and it wasn't as big of a story. Valens being in the rock and roll hall of fame is an absolute joke. If he hadn't died he'd be just another guy who had a few hits back then, like Larry Williams maybe.

Half the songs on Tommy are not even good. Why listen to all of them when you could pick out the real good ones and listen to them without having to hear the rest of them.

And Quadrophenia doesn't even have one real good song IMO.

Or, if he hadn't died, maybe he would have racked up a lot more hits before hitting the inevitable dry spell. Like Rick Nelson. Regardless, as the first notable latino rock star, perhaps his induction is justified. I used to think there were a number of inductees undeserving of the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. But now I think it might just be Miles Davis.

I think his opinions on Tommy and Quadrophenia are sincere.

Yeah I don't know their rationale but Davis is pretty integral in the development of fusion. To me albums like Bitches Brew, Jack Johnson, and On the Corner are as much rock as they are jazz. In fact I think if push came to shove I would simply call them rock.

Because of his bio at the rock hall website. Particularly these lines:

"Davis never played rock or rhythm & blues, though he experimented with funk grooves on 1972’s On the Corner and in some of his later bands."

"It is important to note that Miles Davis did not make jazz-rock - a briefly popular hybrid in the late Sixties and early Seventies, whose chief proponents were Blood, Sweat & Tears and Chicago. Davis played jazz, period."

http://rockhall.com/inductees/miles-davis/bio/

I can't justify inducting someone as an artist into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, who, according to that very hall, never played the stuff.

There are loads that don't belong there, Valens, Sledge, Cohen, Patti Smith, to start.

With the Clovers and Wynonie Harris still not in the entire hall is a joke anyway.
