Only three artists have not been mentioned yet in this round:

2001 Ritchie Valens
2005 Percy Sledge
2012 Laura Nyro

In fact, I don't think any of these three has ever been mentioned in the entire contest. I assume one of them will finish in last place.

I might vote for Sledge in the next round. He has 4 top 20 singles, one of which is an all-time classic. That's more than can be said for some of the remaining artists. However, I won't vote Valens or Nyro next round.

And in case some didn't know, Bonnie Raitt has an album that went 7x platinum, one that went 5x platinum, and one that went 2x platinum, plus a couple that went gold. That's quite a bit of commercial impact for this stage of the proceedings.

But she really only has one song that mainstream listeners know, her only single that made the top 15. I never understood her appeal. There's dozens of black female blues artists who are much better IMO. It's offensive to me to hear her named as some great blues artist.

Barbara Lynn is better than her IMO.

She might not appeal to you, but still she does appeal to a lot of people. But the great blues artist thing is odd. I don't think she's really blues; she's blues-influenced rock.

There's a lot of acts that don't appeal to me, but where I can understand why they appeal to others.

Before she broke out with big hit albums, she was known as a blues artist.

Her wiki article says......

Bonnie Lynn Raitt (born November 8, 1949) is an American blues singer-songwriter and slide guitar player.

I think for a hall of fame an artist should have some sort of influence or should at least be widely recognized for musical quality. Creed have one diamond album and two more that went 6 × platinum, yet I don't think they should ever make the hall. At the time Raitt achieved widespread recognition her style was hardly revelant for the musical developments that were taking place then. I don't think she's completely undeserving but I'm inclined to vote for artists with at least some influence first.

I agree. She clearly has some heavily blues-influenced songs but much of her material is not blues at all.

I'd say Raitt is pretty widely recognized for her musical quality, and was by those who knew her music long before she became popular in a big way. And of the the artists who haven't made our list yet, who besides the non-rock artists has substantial influence? Jeff Beck, but I think most of it is from when he was in The Yardbirds. Jimmy Cliff might get a little for helping to popularize reggae, but not much because "Israelites" preceded him. Any others?

It probably depends on your definition of influence. If you say influence is mainly innovation, then I'd probably agree with your assessment that most of the remaining artists don't have much of it. On the other hand quite a few of the final bunch either were among the earlier artists in their respective genre to make a significant dent or had a very unique style that assured them widespread critical acclaim over a very long time. I don't think that is the case with Raitt, at least not to the same degree as it is the case with the other remaining artists, excluding Valens, Sledge, Nyro, Jackson and maybe two or three others.
