Some of your choices make Gene Pitney and Laura Nyro look like a solid, deserving inducties.

I would have voted for Pitney and would have considered voting for Nyro.

It may sound controversial, but i believe that at this point there should be no more than 150 inducties in performers category. So, according to this standard, my votes also were very liberal.

I apologize if this has already been explained, but why does the ballot have people we've already collectively voted on? Is this like the Baseball Hall Of Fame ballot where you have 15 years to make it, as long as you get 5% each year? I think with the limited number of people casting ballots, and the fact that we've "added" so many borderline candidates already, that this is starting to look like one of those farcical fan sites where people insist that (fill in the blank) not getting in is an outrage. If the HOF people see this they'd laugh - 8 people voted numerous times on the same candidates! I think the process would be better served by starting with as many names as possible on the ballot, chosen by Bruce, then each round only a few move on, where they then get narrowed even further in future rounds. That would be more interesting probably. Just an observation though.

So here are my votes, I'll play along and be generous (but if this goes on for 15 years, count me out):

Dick Dale
Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Jan & Dean
Shirley & Lee
Johnny "Guitar" Watson
Larry Williams
Link Wray

It was covered. Each artist gets 3 years on the ballot unless they get less than 2 votes in any election, in which case they are dropped right away. We've already elected a few acts the scond time around including everybody who was on the original "early influences" ballot. It gives voters a chance to reconsider somebody who is getting a lot of support from others, plus, the voters are not always the same exact people each time around.

I sent our list of inductees to Terry Stewart and he didn't laugh. He agreed with most of our selections. He also really liked the rankings of the current HOFers although he said of course they could never do that in the real hall.

A busy man like you can't be bothered voting once a week, huh.

Dick Dale
Screamin' Jay Hawkins
Jan & Dean
Shirley & Lee
Johnny "Guitar" Watson
Larry Williams
Link Wray

Round 3 of the artists who released their first record between 1950 and 1959 is closed. There were 8 ballots turned in so a candidate needed 6 votes to be inducted. We have three new inductees.

Here we go:

INDUCTEES (votes)
Jan & Dean (6)
Johnny Rivers (6)
Link Wray (6)

NON-INDUCTEES (votes)
Johnny Burnette Trio (4)
Dick Dale (4)
Screamin' Jay Hawkins (4)
Harold Melvin & Blue Notes (4)
Shirley & Lee (3)
Larry Williams (3)
Sonny Boy Williamson (Rice Miller) (3)
Cadillacs (2)
Spaniels (2)
Johnny "Guitar" Watson (2)
Johnny Maestro (Crests, Brooklyn Bridge) (1)
Otis Williams & the Charms (0)

Johnny Maestro and Otis Williams and the Charms will be dropped from the ballot for not getting at least 2 votes, and this was the third and final time on the ballot for the Johnny Burnette Trio, Larry Williams and Sonny Boy Williamson.

Moving on to the next group, round three for the artists who released their first record between 1960 and 1969.

To be eligible for this category the artist has to have released his first record between Jan 1, 1960 and Dec 31, 1969 . Each voter is just going to vote YES or NO on each candidate. In order to be inducted the candidate has to get 2/3 of the vote. You can vote for all 15 candidates if you want to.

THIS ROUND WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY APR 28 at 10 PM EASTERN:

Here are the candidates:

Gary US Bonds
Chi-Lites
Joe Cocker
Delfonics
Guess Who
Herman's Hermits
King Crimson
Love

After Harry Nilsson died, there was a guy who came to the next Beatlefest with a petition to get Harry in the Hall. He seemed pretty quixotic, to put it as politely as possible, but now that the other two "N" singer-songwriters he used to be grouped with are in, it doesn't seem to ridiculous. Nevertheless, as with the Zombies, I'd enjoy seeing it just from my own personal taste perspective, but I can't really vote that way.

Joe Cocker and the Shangri-Las just barely make it for me. And Todd makes it when you consider his work as a producer and band member as well as a solo artist.
