Bullet Ballot is a term that started with the baseball hall of fame. It's when one writer is only voting for one candidate who is not among the players expected to get elected. It's done to send a message like "I'm not voting for Willie Mays but I am voting for Maury Wills because the rest of you schmucks don't realize how great Maury was and maybe this will draw some attention to him."

Round 3 of the artists who released their first record between 1960 and 1969 is closed. There were 8 ballots turned in so a candidate needed 6 votes to be inducted. For the first time in this project we did not elect anybody in this round. Three Dog Night came closest, missing by one vote.

Here we go:

NON-INDUCTEES (votes)
Three Dog Night (5)
Herman's Hermits (4)
King Crimson (4)
Meters (4)
Todd Rundgren (4)
Joe Cocker (3)
Guess Who (3)
Love (3)
MC5 (3)
Shangri-Las (3)
Zombies (3)
Chi-Lites (2)
Delfonics (2)
Harry Nilsson (2)
Gary US Bonds (1)

US Bonds will drop off the ballot for only getting one vote.

Moving on to the next group, round three for the artists who released their first record between 1970 and 1979.

To be eligible for this category the artist has to have released his first record between Jan 1, 1970 and Dec 31, 1979 . Each voter is just going to vote YES or NO on each candidate. In order to be inducted the candidate has to get 2/3 of the vote. You can vote for all 15 candidates if you want to.

THIS ROUND WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY MAY 5 at 10 PM EASTERN:

Here are the candidates. (Those in RED are in their third and final round on the ballot)

Bryan Adams
Pat Benetar
Kurtis Blow
Boston
Jimmy Buffett
Cheap Trick
Commodores
Devo
Dire Straits
Journey
Judas Priest
Roxy Music
Rufus feat Chaka Khan
Squeeze
Tina Turner
