Influence and cultural impact goes to Teen Spirit.

I will never admit that a single song influenced the entire genre.

Taro just says influence is Teen Spirit because its easy for him to see. What you have to understand is that Berry pretty much was the one who started the notion that rock would have the guitar as the lead instrument, which is really the most central thing about a genre. Also the use of a guitar riff at that time in rock's history makes it very influential as well.

Smells Like has at least 10 times better riff than B. Goode, and if everything is only about being a root of rock song, I demand something by Muddy Waters in the top 5.

Please explain.

Why would you do this?

Waters is a blues artist, so he can't have songs here. I don't who has the better riff, I care about the influence of the whole song, and B. Goode clearly wins that.

I seriously doubt Taro knows anything about Muddy Waters.

Cultural impact and populairty goes to Teen Spirit. The only advantage of B. Goode is that it was sent in the space, and I'm sure that if Teen Spirit was released at that time, it would be sent not B. Goode.

There's a minuscule chance you have a point there, but nonetheless, nothing makes up for the sheer decimation of SLTS in the influence department.

Where is this great cultural impact you speak of?

Okay, so can this argument be put to rest now? It's obvious that only poor, misguided Taro think SLTS can even touch JBG, so let's discuss something more worthwhile. Anyone else think The Message could be top 20?

That depends. I don't know much about hip hop, but I know The Message seems to be the greatest hip hop song. Is its influence still present in today's hip hop? Seeing as how much hip hop has exploded, having at least some indirect influence would be a big deal.
