Isn't it extremely small pool sample? I mean, at least acclaimedmusic compile tons of different lists but eight? It's no more objective than asking some random guys on the street of what best song of all time is.

Yes. It was already a big record but it became HUGE all over again after the Pee Wee Herman movie. The various videos of the song on youtube add up to well over 10 million plays.

It's objective in that it objectively tries to compile the lists from these sources into an overall ranking. I don't think it's supposed to be any more objective than that.

Why is Tutti Frutti the highest for Little Richard? I'd think that Good Golly Miss Molly or Long Tall Sally would be better choices, especially the latter since it was covered by Elvis and the Beatles.

Here we go again. Being covered by both Beatles and Elvis isn't sole indicator of song's greatness and not particulary important in grand scheme of things. Tutti Frutti is Little Richard's breakthrough single, his most well known song and his highest on acclaimedmusic.net

One word: awopbopaloomopalopbamboom.

"Tutti Frutti" is just so iconic.

Especially when Elvis also covered "Tutti Frutti".

Is it too early to add "Get Lucky" to our list? It's clearly widely acclaimed and was a worldwide phenomenon.

We can probably measure its initial popularity and acclaim. Lasting popularity and influence is another thing, but that hasn't stopped other popular songs to get on here not long after they come out.

I was thinking about that and will discuss it with Brett and Brian sometime before the end of the year.

It's certainly worth considering. Last year actually had four huge records--"Get Lucky", "Happy", "Blurred Lines", and "Royals" (which doesn't have Pharrell at all!), not necessarily in that order. "Get Lucky" is the most acclaimed of the four, although I think "Happy" might actually be the most popular. T-C would probably argue that "Get Lucky" should be the lowest because it's the only one not parodied on the new Weird Al album.

If we add "Get Lucky" what should be dropped?

I'm thinking maybe "Genius of Love."

Dropping "Genius of Love" would be fine with me.
