Looks good. I'm wondering if we should include "Sabre Dance" from his band Love Sculpture. If we would count that, it would be number 2 or 3, I think. (If we can put "Different Drum" on the Linda Ronstadt list....)

"(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" is a really hard song to place on this list. It's unquestionably the biggest song he ever wrote, and arguably the most important song of his career--certainly in the top two.

But he never really recorded it as a solo artist. It was originally released with his group Brinsley Schwartz, and if that's the version we're ranking, it's probably placed about right. The famous version was of course by Elvis Costello--but the odd thing is that it originally was released as a Lowe b-side, credited to "Nick Lowe and His Sound". So does that make it a Lowe recording? I suppose not, but it's a weird abberation.

You could also argue for the inclusion of "Teacher Teacher" by Rockpile.

I decided not to count the stuff they did with groups, and I saw that "What's So Funny" was released as a solo Nick Lowe single, so I assumed that counted. Are you saying that the B side release of that song is with Costello singing?

I believe so. Everything I've seen says it's the same version that later appeared on Costello's US album. If there's a Lowe solo version with him singing, I've never heard it (apart from live versions--there are a couple of those out, so maybe that qualifies).

I proposed a revision to this back in August. Ah, yes, here it is:

Not only are you quite right that "Believin'" is the clear choice for number one (and certainly WAY bigger than
"Wheel In The Sky") but not having "Lights" on the list is absurd, too.

Zach suggested moving "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'" up two spots, but other than that no one objected to this list. Let's nail this down and get it revised. Comments?
