I don't see the importance of that Strapping album. aside from that it looks good, can't really think of a better list. I'd still have Below the Lights at least at #2 but thats just me. I'd say drop out SYL and put Feedbacker back in somewhere in the lower slots and lets move on

At least 4 of us think Epica should be included.

Don't think that SYL album should be on either. City and Alien are the only SYL albums that could possibly make these lists.

Yes, and Epic shouldn't just be a fringe album imo. Top 5. As much as Kamelot sucks.

Led Zeppelin III marked a change in focus for the band from late 1960s hard rock to a more folk rock or electric folk and acoustic.

More? III has ten songs, the first five are all hard & heavy guitar rock. Only 2 of the 8 on IV are folk/acoustic. Houses also has only two of eight. So how is that more?

1) MY post subject reads: The Top 10 HEAVY Metal albums by year

2) I didn't ask.

I'm purposely ignoring the 70s because its way too much of a shitstorm I don't feel like dealing with. Even if we were to completely invalidate the "most rock bands from the 70s just weren't metal" argument we had, we'd still probably have some trouble making 10 for each list.

The only people who'd have trouble coming up with ten are those who never heard the music.

Does anyone remember dmille's GFR challenge some years ago? Admittedly, I haven't listened a whole lot to them since that, but I do remember thinking they were quite heavy, among the heaviest of their contemporaries.

Accepting a challenge requires balls, something lacking in what passes for metalheads around here.

"You don't think it's metal because you haven't listened to it". What a stupid fucking thing to say.

Anyway, moving on. Can we get Epica on the list? What does '04 look like?

Why do you assume that nobody here has listened to Grand Funk Railroad? Why do you assume that everyone else is wrong and you are the one who is right?
