Very few of us, if any at all, listen to only metal. |

I'm not too sure about Kayo Dot and Septicflesh, otherwise joe's list looks okay. |

The Kayo Dot I gave my reasoning for, if nobody else agrees on Septicflesh (although I'm not sure why, I was thinking it was popular critically, and, I know this does not factor into the criteria, but it was an album I was aware of before I even started listening to extreme metal, and that just came from internet/magazine stuff, but I never bothered with it because at the time I didn't listen to extreme metal). I was actually thinking about including Death Cult Armageddon on my list because it's easily one of the most popular black metal albums of all time. No small feat. It's not every day you hear black metal songs in film trailers and despite black metal fans reactions, it got really great reviews. 100,000 units moved and 4/5 score or better from most of the major metal voices. |

I think Deathcult Armageddon belongs as much as Hate Crew Deathroll. Pretty much the same album, really. |

I've no problem with including Deathcult, but I think JRA's made his mind up on that one. |

Very few of us, if any at all, listen to only metal. I didn't say metal. I said heavy metal. Reading IS fundamental. |

Woodgod wrote: I've no problem with including Deathcult, but I think JRA's made his mind up on that one. I'll take Death Cult over Ashes of Empires anyday. Death Cult's crime is that Dimmu kinda sucks at Sons of Northern Darkness- ish songcrafting (seriously, I remember the first time I heard Vresbyrd and thought that riff/lick after the first verse was genius, and the fucking idiots never bring it back again through out the rest of the song). Death Cult gave black metal that little extra pus for it to be featured on MTV and mainstream tours. Ashes Of Empires did not do the same for groove metal. |

Now I'm moving on from this stupid discussion and I (and likely everyone here) will be ignoring your useless posts. |
