Why does being the first by default make it important? That's just silly. And saying that Helloween's catalogue isn't deep enough to fill a top 10 without resorting to such rationale is even more silly, and if you think that then you shouldn't be calling any shots when it comes to Helloween.

It's why A Fine Day To Die is #1 on the Bathory list. Under The Sign is the greater album but Blood Fire Death was the first Bathory album most people heard first. Same thing for Candlemass and Solitude. As for your Helloween comment, I feel the same way about Motorhead and Overkill, yet anyone wants to give credit to in terms of songs are the first 5 albums for Overkill and the Lemmy/Clarke/Taylor lineup for Motorhead. At most there should be the title tracks from those three albums, maybe one other song from Ace of Spades but the rest can absolutely be filled up by stuff after 1982.

But the criteria has changed to involve "impact" and when something is the first, it will make a pretty big impact.

Except all those songs you mentioned were important songs for the band. Being the first track is not what made them great.

No dude. First is best.

They are important yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean they should be #1. When we made the Bathory list we were trying to decide whether A Fine Day To Die or One Road To Asa bay should be #1, and we picked the former because more people heard it first.

edit: I can't tell if Nes is being a dick or not.

But you aren't saying anything about I'm Alive except that it was "first".

Like I said before, I've changed my opinion from I'm Alive to Future World, which technically was first.

What exactly makes Halloween #1? It's a killer of a song and I love it to pieces, but I'd think that Eagle Fly Free, I Want Out, or Keeper would be more deserving.

Halloween is their signature song, their most famous song (along with I Want Out), and their most acclaimed song.

So anyone think any of the songs from De Vermis Mysteriis could make the High On Fire list?
