Winamp 4 life. I love how much you can customize it. Recently bought the pro edition. WMP is my second choice because its fast and organized.

you guys should try tune up to organize itunes. it works pretty well. i used the free trial version to see how well it worked and it really surprised me. if you have a lot of unorganized stuff it would be a good buy

I thought this was a pretty well thought through article. It's a response to an NPR intern who admitted to pirating all her music and is definitely worth a read if you have not already. I'm not sure if it's been posted elsewhere on this forum, and didn't feel like taking the time to search too hard, so if it has, please direct me to any thoughtful discussion on it.

just came across this. first generation indie-alt dad figure is visibly upset about new generation indie alt kids listening to stuff for free. very refined form of smug elitism, might i add ("this would not be possible for you if my generation didnt do the things they way we did")

also anyone else who has read that think it is in incredibly terrible taste to try and link mark linkous and vic chestnutt's suicides to fucking filesharing?

overall, lowery is eloquent for sure but his points are very misguiding and shed only partial light to the situation.

for one, steve albini destroys his arguments over the course of the thread and in his AMA here:

http://www.electricalaudio.com/phpBB3/v ... 0#p1482891
http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/t ... ng/c4lmwsm

also a good article on the situation from travis morrison of the dismemberment plan

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/travis-mo ... tml?12%603

let's not forget that under this dying and redundant 'old' model, this is what actually happens

http://www.theroot.com/views/how-much-d ... eally-make

you get $23 for every $1000 worth of your product sales. what a fucking joke. why this system should still stand and be defended is completely beyond me.

Would it be chilldish if someone made a "Badass songs" thread? I've been listening to 'Angel' by Massive Attack and I think it perfectly fits this description, but I can't think of too many others besides maybe 'Da Funk' by Daft Punk. I dunno, I think it could be a fun topic for people to discover these kinds of songs.

angel sounds more like seductive to me

i like the idea, but it will most likely be an exclusively hip hop list

of course of course, there's a lot of badass non hip hop tracks, but a lot of hip hop's modus operandi is badass so you know, the ratio will be skewed

I didn't particularly like this song, but I checked out some of the other stuff he's made and it was pretty good. Thanks for the rec!

Does anyone think there's any truth to the whole thing about boys being attracted to the phallic imagery of the electric guitar? I started thinking about this when I looked at this forum's logo, which is a pretty good looking electric guitar. I think there definitely could be some connection. I mean, I started really getting into guitars around the same time that I became very horny. And I recall flipping through guitar catalogs as a young boy, gazing at all the electric guitars, fantasizing about playing them, and just admiring their beauty in general. I really never do that anymore.

oh yeah, i see it. it could explain why rock music (unlike a lot of other genres) has generally been sexist and exclusionary toward women? there's definitely some truth in that even if you were to take it with a grain of salt
