hate is a strong word, but yes, I do tend to neglect most older music, except for jazz, which I actually do go out of my way to listen to by myself. Which is funny because every other art form, I gravitate to more older stuff

You are completely misinterpreting my frame of mind. I nominated the Peter Gunn Theme. Hobo Ho had such an impact on me that I actually bought Let My Children Hear Music, the only piece of music in the tourney (that was new to me) that I've yet to do that for. Yeah, I do think the Moonlight Sonata is out of place in this tournament. I wonder if the person who nominated it even realizes that the link is just the first movement of a much longer piece.
i doubt it, because they specified "first movement" (though i found that strange, too, because i think the second movement is every bit as awesome)
hey, i nominated the whole of "concierto de aranjuez" and "the way up"... so "moonlight's" unusual form is not unique in the tournament.... that said, i distinctly remember us discussing this issue before the tournament began and agreeing that all styles and genres of music are equally welcome. plus a big part of the tournament was to provide an opportunity for people to explore and discover new music for themselves, so confining ourselves to pop/rock would be somewhat counterproductive. so i see this as a complete non-issue.

aye, though I was hoping for a newer/fresher classical song to progress more than Moonlight Sonata. Really it terms of productivity, the first round is really the most happening, assuming you were active in every matchup. Everything after that is just routine business.

i agree (though it's no impossible that some songs can grow on you after an initial listen or two, which happened to me a couple of times in this tournament)... but then "baba o'riley" is as commonly known a piece as "moonlight sonata", which reminds us that there is a reason why these two got so far: it is a popularity contest.

Why don't you go look up the definition.

you have 7 hours left to change history! as of now the results stand like this:

Joni Mitchell - River 6 - 22 Led Zeppelin - When the Levee Breaks

Beethoven - Sonata #14 in C sharp minor (Moonlight), first movement 15 - 13 The Who - Baba O'Riley

Don't you think that same sentement can apply to Baba O'Riley?

Eat a dick beethoven! Moonlight sonata? What are you 5?!"

Inconsistent statements are inconsistent.

Well, if that's what the tournament is about, then both the moonlight sonata and "Baba O'Riley" have no business being in this tournament. That's what I initially wanted the tournament to be, which is why I nominated The Who's "Naked Eye". But then people complained about the lack of "Baba O'Riley", so I changed my nomination.

What's your point? If you think that means Hobo Ho, the Peter Gunn Theme and the Moonlight Sonata are songs, you're wrong. I don't know what dictionary mentions "simulating", either, but I suppose that could refer to Muzak versions of Beatles tunes in elevators.
