Defining "song" has me wondering...is it vocals? is it lyrics? the combination of both? I guess what I wanna know is which of these have to be present for it to be considered a song. "CMYK" has vocals and distinguishable lyrics but they're used in such a non-traditional way. Elizabeth Fraser is one of the most beautiful singers I've ever heard but often her lyrics are gibberish. Chilly Willy did a great cover of "Let's Stay Together" with just synths . I'm curious about where the line is drawn, because it's more akin to a continuum than discrete bands of songs/not-songs. |

While we're partaking in this literalist faggotry, I would also like to point out that some dictionary definitions do not preclude those noises not produced by human vocal chords from being referred to as "singing". |

And everything with human vocal chords in it is not a song. It has to be in song form. |

Read my quote again. Why should they? The moonlight sonata isn't a song. The end. |

It should be Van Morrison - Cyprus Avenue vs Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower cause Cyprus beat The Rat. See George wrote: Van Morrison - Cyprus Avenue 15 - 9 The Walkmen - The Rat
