For whatever it's worth, I don't really care for "Roll Over Beethoven" either. But it's a totally different song, lyrically. Both are praising rock n roll, but Chuck Berry's song is praising rock n roll as a new development. Bob Seger's song is bashing the new developments and playing rock n roll at its very worst. Lyrics aside, I don't think rock n roll can get any worse than "Old Time Rock n Roll."

Well Chuck Berry does kinda diss other genres in Rock N Roll Music, notably modern jazz that's played "too darn fast". Not a fan of that attitude either.

But the difference is that Chuck made fresh, innovative music and Bob Seger is just some bitter asshole complaining about the changing musical climate and offering boring, watered down Little Richard horseshit as an antidote. I'd take the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack over that song anytime, eat shit Bob.

I'm not a big Bob Seger fan but I do like Night Moves, Against the Wind, Turn the Page and Mainstreet.
