Redemption Song is one of the best songs ever written.

The Beatles early years (which I'll call from from Please Please Me to Rubber Soul) are significantly better than their more critically acclaimed middle years (Yesterday and Today through Magical Mystery Tour).

Agreed. (Yesterday and Today? what's that?)

Well the actual rendering should be "Yesterday"...and Today. Album that came out right before Revolver.

Oh you're dealing with those North American Releases. The album before Revolver is Rubber Soul in the superior and I though largely accepted British chronology.

Well either way the point stands if we count Rubber Soul as the end of the early period and Revolver as the beginning of the middle period.

I don't usually include Rubber Soul with the early period, though a case for doing so can certainly be made.

Well if you include it with the middle period it would be enough to swing my rankings but I think it fits more with the early period. It's transitional in a lot of ways but its really holding with a lot of the earlier period aesthetic.

I think using Rubber Soul to mark the end of one era and Revolver to mark the beginning of the next makes the most sense

Like any transition album, Rubber Soul is both.

I agree, but what about later years compared with early years? What is your opinion on that?
