The Beatles early years (which I'll call from from Please Please Me to Rubber Soul) are significantly better than their more critically acclaimed middle years (Yesterday and Today through Magical Mystery Tour).

I agree, but what about later years compared with early years? What is your opinion on that?

I like the late years slightly more largely on the back of Abbey Road being so fantastic. There are more good songs from the early years but there are just more songs period from those years.

Thanks for response, these are pretty much my feeling on issue

Now that that the 2000's are over, it is difficult to see how either The Strokes or Arcade Fire were the messiahs they have been proclaimed as.

In Arcade Fire's defense, they only average an album every 3 years, and they've all been great so far. Realistically, I don't think we could have asked for anything more. And how many artists actually turn out to be the messiahs they were proclaimed as?

This is neither unpopular nor not a fact.

Guess I'm just relying too much on the critical appraisal's establishment of what are the better albums.

Yeah I can't agree with that. I definitely prefer 66/67 Beatles to 63/65 Beatles, though I have much love for those early years as well.

More precisely it is '65 > '67 > '64 > '66 > '63.

I prefer the Beatles anytime after April 10, 1970.

I thought they really hit their stride after December 8, 1980

Rubber Soul and Abbey Road are the best Beatles albums. Then it's a sizable drop to Help! and Sgt. Pepper. Then another big drop to Revolver, The White Album, A Hard Day's Night, and Beatles for Sale. Then there's everything else. Help is really the most underrated Beatles album. There are no bad tracks on it.

Definitely agree with statement 1. Agree with part one of statement 2 but I would put White Album and A Hard Day's Night as the other ones up there. Then Sgt. Peppers and Revolver compete with some of the earlier stuff.

Apparently both mine and Adequate Gatsby's PT singles list agree with this.

The Beatles were best when they had Pete Best.
