I don't like FF's new stuff at all, but their 90s stuff was good.

But even at their worst, you're deaf if you can't tell them apart from Hinder. :lol:

I mean most bands even if they're not original, they consist of human beings with their own idiosyncracie, so they still have their own sound to some extent, few bands sound exactly like another band, though there are exceptions, Theory of a Deadman is Nickelback.

@chicken sandwich

I think Boo Boo was trying to say they were the last great hard rock band that was popular outside of the internet.

I agree with that sentiment in that case. Although Songs for the Deaf is admittedly the only QOTSA album that I enjoy (but it's one of my favorite albums ever, top 50 probably).

And fuck no, Wolfmother is everything wrong with music. Rehashing 70s blues rock in an attempt to turn time and regress music back to an era that has since been evolved from. They're fucking terrible.

Queens of the Stone Age's debut is better by miles than any of their other work in my humble opinion.

I love classic hard rock, so why should I listen to a by the numbers imitation like Wolfmother instead of the real thing?

Why does paying homage to an older genre of music automatically make you terrible? There will always be shitty avant garde bands around so why is traditionalism inherently bad?

I don't like Wolfmother at all but I feel like getting on your ass about this anyway.

I have the same question actually? Why can't a band just pay homage? Wolfmother are nothing great or groundbreaking, but I can definitely sit through their songs and bang my head a bit too and they do a pretty good job doing that style. Songs like Joker n the thief and Dimension definitely fall into the fun category for me. Plus, they do a wicked version of CB, so I can definitely like that

You don't get the appeal of Wolfmother. They are influenced by Led Zeppelin AND Black Sabbath. Mind Blowing shit right there.

Plus, a song like this is just fun. Could just be a white stripes song too I think.

I think you're about to get curbstomped for making that comparison.

It's a pretty legit one though, and people not seeing it are just lying to themselves. I really like the white stripes myself, from the handful of songs I've heard from em.

Little Room is the best white stripes song ever.

Because music has moved on from that point. As artists they can do whatever they want, and if they want to rip off Zeppelin songs then more power to them. But to think they have any merit or credibility as legitimate artists is false, as they're like a poor man's tribute band. Zeppelin has enough bands and people on their dicks as it is. They're just perpetuating this stupid mindset that all great rock music was made in the late 60s/early 70s and I can hear thousands of old dad rockers exclaiming "Finally! A great band from this decade!" when hearing Wolfmother.

i'm one of the biggest Jack White fans here. and the first time i heard Wolfmother's "Woman", i thought it was a new Jack White song... i got really excited about it actually.

anyway, Joker and the Thief and Woman are the only two songs i've heard of theirs and i don't have a problem with either of them. i think they are probably another good band with a couple good songs that hardcore music fans backlash against because of the "hey this band is decent and sounds a little bit old school in a way, therefore they are the saviors of rawk!!!" attitude of casual fans. same thing happened to Mumford and Sons. and Kings of Leon. i see no real reason to actually dislike either of them outside of disliking their fanbases. just my opinion.
