god you're annoying, and possibly far more condescending than myself even. is this how you react when people bash the grateful dead irl - i.e - take them on a roundtrip through your clairvoyance toward the band and play victim to your taste being 'awful'?

I made a post per the terms of this thread, and the first two posts responding to it were needlessly negative. Then you've been twisting my words in every response I've made since then.

I'm about as passionate concerning the GD as anything in my life. I'm going to be a little touchy about it when people say things like "boring as hell", "snoozefest", "shit", "don't have any good songs", etc when describing them. My main goal when I discuss them on this board is to share in the joy that they bring me. I wish people could experience what I do when I hear them.

If I try to call you out on being a condescending prick, and you call me annoying, then mission ccomplished.

Overall, I really do like you, and I think you have great taste in music, and are very passionate, but sometimes you need to tone it down.

And before you possibly lash out, my above comments don't mean I don't have faults too.

i don't have anything against you dude

i just think it's unnecessary responding to stuff in this thread in particular. imagine freth responding to every kiss diss or me responding to all the general 'electronic music sucks' posts in this thread in length. it's a fun thread and we've both taken it a bit too seriously i reckon. as we music nerds to.

peace

Fair enough.

Just imagine reading attacks on something that has been maybe the biggest influence on how I view and enjoy the world around me. It feels like something bigger than music, to the point that attacks/criticism of the GD are virtually tantamount to being directed towards my personality or life choices/goals.

If just one person admitted that maybe they were wrong in their assessment of them, I would be happy. It's the degree and assuredness to which they are dismissed that bugs me the most.

Unless you're a sociopath or something (and even then...), everyone has their good intentions causing their actions. No reason to be an unregulated asshole to someone. Civil discourse and reasoning should always be the desired course of action, with compromise, at a minimum, the desired end state. We appear to have reached it.

I'm satisfied.

Nobody here respects civil discourse, be an asshole instead. It helps.

"U Don't Know" is incredible. Jay responding to the sample's vocals ("you don't know...what you're doing") every time is fantastic. Maybe the most triumphant song ever recorded. Plus it is the first track in one of my best three-tracks-in-a-row for a mixtape:

I never used to like it that much - something about the punchy MPC feel to it, but one day it just clicked as one of the most badass tracks I've heard. Have you heard the second version, on The Blueprint II? I remember reading that Just Blaze said it was how he would have made the beat had he more time (on a Complex feature going through all his best beats) but I'm not convinced it's any better than the original.

No to be honest I haven't even heard the Blueprint II. Is it worth checking out? It seems like it was mostly a forgotten album.

Tudwell, great call on Manners, that album is immaculate. It's somewhat of an embarrassing album to admit to like. But songs like "Little Secrets" are damn close to perfect.

Agreed. Manners is one of my favorite albums to come out in the past 10 years and I'm not embarrassed to say that at all.

I don't think I've been to a party in the past year or so where "Sleepyhead" hasn't played. Not that I mind at all!

Hmm, I don't think I've been to a party where "Sleepyhead" has been played since 2010. And I definitely do mind.
