Is it really so hard to see why we may find it so catchy and fun, as well as brilliantly produced? I totally get why you might not be into it, but I don't see what's so mystifying about its appeal.

There are plenty of songs in that bracket, but this song seems to be hailed as this absolute master-piece. barbie girl from aqua's in the same league as this song, along with Madonna's Material Girl yet, nowhere nearly as universally acclaimed or loved. I get the appeal I guess, just not the extent of it.

Material Girl, yes (although I would put different Madonna tunes up there ahead of it), Barbie Girl certainly not.

To me this is like comparing Stairway to Heaven to Child in Time to In-a-Gadda-Da-Vida and asking why they don't have the same levels of acclaim.

Grieves – Kings vs. Ab-Soul- Terrorist Threats

The Grieves tracks wasn't that bad for a white boy rap song, there's still always something off about that kind of rap tho. It just seems so studied and lacks any kind of sense of humor. Plus look at this guy, just look at him

Justin was right, I'm starting to realize how underrated of an album that Ab-Soul record was. It has all the properties that should make it a classic up there with the best in the past few years. The beat is amazing, the flow is amazing, this is rap in tippity top form.

The Clash - Guns on the Roof vs. Allo Darlin' - Silver Dollars

hoo this was kind of hard. I like both, but that Allo Darlin' track I find a bit more interesting. Beautiful voice.

25. Grieves – Kings vs. Ab-Soul- Terrorist Threats

Great beat.

26. The Clash - Guns on the Roof vs. Allo Darlin' - Silver Dollars

Kind of sounds like Vampire Weekend except with a female singer.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Mercy*
vs.
Suicide - Surrender

- Nick Cave is one of like, 4 Australian artists that I'm not ashamed of. Cave's ability to paint an atmosphere with his tone and lyrics is one of the reasons why, and Mercy is an awesome example of that tone. The repetition of the chanting of Mercy creates a really creepy yet serene atmosphere. I like this song.
- Interesting pairing really. Surrender kinda sounds like it could be a Nick Cave song. The vocals paired with the 80s loop in the background sort of make it sound like a drunk guy doing karaoke at 3am to a small crowd. That's not a bad thing - it's a really cool song, but not as good as the first one.

John Butler Trio - Ocean(Live)*
vs.
Captain Murphy- Between Friends

- One Aussie I love to one Aussie I dont care for at all. My friend played this for his final music exam in high school and we still make fun of him for it to this day. Butler talks about how he used to play this song when he was busking - that's exactly what it sounds like. Who cares, guy? 11 minutes? Fuck that noise. It has 11 minutes on the clock but it cuts out at 5 minutes? Whatever, I'm not voting for this.
- If I didn't look at the artist, I would've said for sure that this was an Odd Future track, which is cheating considering it's featuring Earl. The rapping was really on point but the best part of the song hits at around the 2:30 mark with an awesome Flying Lotus loop. I enjoyed this.
