Within Temptation - Pearls of Light vs. Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert, Part II Meh, didn't like either. Both are style > substance but in different yet equally boring ways. Throwing my vote to WT because it's listed first. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes vs. Omar- S- Set it Out Can I just vote for both of these songs and not throw a vote in for the first match up? But damn, "Set It Out" is just great. Sounds so much fresher than the Bowie track too. Those synths warm your heart, the percussion makes you wanna dance, and those vocals get your dick hard. |

57. Within Temptation - Pearls of Light vs. Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert, Part II boo-urns 58. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes vs. Omar- S- Set it Out Giving it to Bowie since I finally got the Venture Bros reference after listening to it. And now I really want to watch that episode again. |

57. Within Temptation - Pearls of Light vs. Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert, Part II This must be what Comus sounds like to Tudwell. I need to check out the rest of this concert. Is this classical or jazz? 58. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes vs. Omar- S- Set it Out This is one of my favorite David Bowie tracks. I really love his breathy vocals. "I've never done good things. I've never done bad things. I've never done anything out of the blue." The Omar song has a interesting feeling that is rather difficult to describe. It almost feels like it is pumping from a ghetto blaster lodged in the ether. It feels a bit eerie and disconnected. |

57. Within Temptation - Pearls of Light vs. Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert, Part II No need to explain what's great about the Koln concert...or what's terrible about this "Pearls of Light" garbage! Sorry to whoever nominated this, but that's just how I feel! 58. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes vs. Omar- S- Set it Out Not really one of Bowie's better songs. Surprised to see it's on his greatest hits compilation. I didn't love the Omar S song. I like the sample a lot ("My Boo" by Ghost Town DJs) but feel it was put to use better on Ciara's "Body Party." It gets a vote this round but maybe not next. Who knoze. |

Steve Vai - Tender Surrender vs. David Byrne & Brian Eno - Life Is Long I feel like the instrumental guitar rock that Vai and others perform is not something I inherently dislike - I just haven't found an artist that does anything to really excite me in that genre. Vai's track isn't bad, but it doesn't grab me. And really, there's not much that could compare to a collaboration between David Byrne and Brian Eno. M.I.A. – Amazon vs. Slint - Good Morning, Captain Either my dislike of Spiderland is waning or my enthusiasm for M.I.A. has dropped off enormously (well, that one's probably true regardless). I really kind of dug Good Morning, Captain. Maybe it's time to revisit a classic I had written off. |
