I can live with a tie but Imo Lambert's runs could give him the edge in Breath Support.

 Well I disagree with some of it, particularly with Buckley getting either resonance or projection, I see both as clear cut to Freddie...but to be honest I don't really care anymore. I think it can go either way with 1v1 breakdowns of any of the top 5 or 6 depending on how you weight things and interpret the criteria. And everyone does that differently.

The one thing I would say, is I don't think you should be saying 8-6 or whatever. That's meaningless. First, not all the sub criteria are equal, and second, whoever's got the 8 wins could have got them all very narrowly, while the one with 6 might have won some of them by a big margin.

I see what you are getting at on the bolded. We have been or should be giving weight to certain categories of criteria, like control or technique. However, I've been conditioned to use that rigid score indicator because that's what we've always done, especially when it's clear cut. It usually serves as the general rule of thumb when determining the winner of these breakdowns. Nevertheless, I agree we should put more weight on control or technique as it is prudent to do so in the context of a list like this. Eventually, I will have a short statement added to the first post explaining this.

Thank you lobones. Yeah, it would be pretty great if we did eventually expand it to 150. There certainly are enough rock singers out there to take it that far!

Moving along now, Freddie vs. J. Buck:

Technique
Breath Support: Tie
Consistency: Freddie
Endurance: Tie
Diction: Tie

Control
Switching: Jeff
Runs: Jeff
Blending: Tie
Pitch: Freddie
Vibrato: Jeff
Volume Control: Tie

Power & Range
Projection: Freddie
Resonance: Freddie
Use of Range: Tie
Sustain: Jeff

Versatility
Technical Versatility: Tie
Tonal Versatility: Jeff
Stylistic Versatility: Jeff

I think Jester can back me up on this - but there's NO WAY that Merc gets volume control over Jeff.
Breath support could also go to JB as well. Either way, he wins.

I'm a huuuuuuUUUUUUUUUGE Mercury fan, but I agree that he needs to drop a little.

Ok, but I didn't give Merc volume control in the first place. I tied it. However, I could certainly see Jeff taking it.

I think breath support could go either way, I gave it to Jeff at first, but then I thought of Don't Try So Hard, All God's People, etc. in conjunction with the fact that Merc's a low tenor. So that's what made go with a tie. Regardless, Jeff does take it.

I really think switching should be Jeff's. And diction should be tied, both are quite good. Freddie's diction is not so good as to overtakes Jeff's. I see Jeff winning anyway.

Switching could be Jeff's, I agree with that, but I don't think diction should be tied... Jeff was good, but live he was often not so clear and somehow muddy...

Switching is EASILY Jeff's, what are you guys talking about?
JB is top 5 for switching, isn't he?

Well if he really is that sloppy live and it makes that much of a difference then Fred would probably get it.

Moving along now, Freddie vs. Cornell:

Technique
Breath Support: Cornell
Consistency: Cornell
Endurance: Tie
Diction: Freddie

Control
Switching: Cornell
Runs: Tie
Blending: Cornell
Pitch: Freddie
Vibrato: Tie
Volume Control: Freddie

Power & Range
Projection: Cornell
Resonance: Freddie
Use of Range: Tie
Sustain: Tie

Versatility
Technical Versatility: Freddie
Tonal Versatility: Cornell
Stylistic Versatility: Freddie

I'd definitely give use of range and runs to Cornell. Freddie could possibly take endurance.

So by that Cornell beats him. But I thought we weren't using this method for the top 10?

We were previously using the "designed-to-make-Freddie-and-Farnham-score-higher" method advocated by MintCondition. Not sure what the deal is now.
