Green isn't topping Presley on this planet or any other, but I agree he could use a boost. Lots of the soul guys could.

Also, I think I'm agreeing with Echoes about Lennon/McCartney > Buckley and Perry...
It makes sense if you think about it. Again, this list should be about importance, influence, and reputation/acclaim only. There is already a list that is ONLY for technical skill. So why not have one that's ONLY for greatness as a vocalist? Hence the title of the list...

As much as I love Buckley, I agree.

I absolutely don't agree! This is a about greatness, you can make a list about influence only, but when it comes to greatness, you can see singers being praised for their technical abilities and becoming great because of it. There is no way John Lennon, who is one of the most importantant figures in rock music, is a greater vocalist than Steve Perry.

Sippe, good attitude. Also, rap is much better than people think of it at first. There may be acts like 50 Cent who praise "being in club with hookers" but there are also some truly meaningful artists out there.

Eminem. Probably the only rapper I like.

But you're basing 'greatness' on technicall skill only, which I dont really agree with. Lennon has far more influence and originality as a vocalist than Perry does.

Lennon was far more distinct, too. Lots of singers have sounded like Perry, but I have yet to hear anyone who resembles Lennon.

I've heard as many resemble Lennon as any who resemble Perry.

Are you seriously stating though that Lennon's voice was more unique than Perry's?

I'm not basing it on skill. Lennon is acclaimed and respected as one of the greatest rock musician, and rightfully so. But Steve Perry is so much more acclaimed for vocals only. 99% of the respect he gets is for his amazing singing skills.

God forbid singing ability actually be of consequence in a singer's list.
