I'm not saying that it's not, it is a huge thing, that particular post though seemed to only talk about skill, which is why I mentioned it

1.) Are all these people who supposedly sound like Perry people who were active before or after Perry was at his peak?
2.) Even if Lennon wins originality, if Perry has more people who sound like him that came after his peak, wouldn't that mean Perry wins influence? Because if Lennon has absolutely NOBODY who sounds like him, then there's zero influence involved.

So you're kind of proving why Perry should be higher than Lennon with this post.

He's talking about Lennon's voice, not his style, I am yet to ever hear anyone who sounds anything like Lennon, where yes, I have heard people with a similar voice to Perry's, however, both their style's are equally popular and imitated

Well I look at it differently.
When there's NOBODY that sounds like you, that makes you unique. How can you be unique if many others can emulate you and sound just like you? Nobody else has sounded like Lennon because his voice was one of a kind. You simply cant say that about Perry. Sam Cooke, Smokey Robinson, Tobias Sammett, Rik Emmett....lots of guys have done that 'soulful tenor' thing just as good.

Lennon isn't a "great vocalist."
Perry is a "great vocalist."

depends what you base 'great vocalist' about, it's more than technique, it's feeling, style, emotion, enunciation. Lennon was the king of switching his voice and feeling to change the subtle mood of each song. He could do seductive, longing, anger, lax/dreamy, lethargic, he could change to any mood and style.

Not to mention, he was one of the first screamers, and is revered for his incredible melodic sense (just like Perry) and harmonies.

He does have some vocal influence, but it's really overshadowed by his overall musical impact.
I've never heard anyone praising Perry for his musicianship or songwriting. The man is just known everyone as one of rock's greatest singers ever. Top 10 without him is absurd. Lennon is top 30 material, Macca top 20.

Perry really is one of the true uber elites of vocals, and you guys should not move J Buckley in any way from the top 10, the dude is universally hailed as the best singer since the 90s, and the most influential and the most skilled ..... and his influence and popularity and acclaim only increase as time passes on... i was one of those who wanted him off the top 10, but he definitely deserves it .....

Daltrey is being overrated a bit...Gillan is overall a greater singer than Daltrey, and in the context, so is Buckley now probably . .... Daltrey is incredible , but a notch below ....even Perry could be ahead of him .....
