I've got recordings of Rush from the March/April leg of the tour (I attended the Auburn Hills show), he sounds better there than those clips! No, he doesn't have the high range as well intact nowadays, but he's still able to pull off the stuff live!

 You realize we're talking about TIM Buckley right? Those three are already placed ahead of him.

Sorry. Now That I saw, haha ... I was talking about Jeff.

Jackson> Perry> Gaye> Jeff Buckey

Perry > Buckley = Jackson > Gaye

In rock: Jackson = Perry/Buckley/Gaye
In general: Jackson/Gaye/Perry/Buckley

I don't know what it means when you separate them with slashes.

Fixing:

In rock: Jackson = Perry > Buckley > Gaye
In general: Jackson > Gaye > Perry > Buckley

What importance do you see any of these singers having outside of rock?

I'm taking into account R&B/Soul and Pop ... Where Perry and Buckey are not highlighted.

I know, but when I supposed to classify in an overall ranking, I take all this into account. As Jackson, Gaye, Wonder and Charles are great in these sub-genres, in a direct confrontation, so give them an advantage.

Why should they get an advantage for being in a specific field of rock music? Perry and Buckley have had success in places where Jackson and Gaye are virtually irrelevant. That has no bearing on their greatness.

Do not disagree with you about it. However, I think I mentioned are more complete as singers, in general. With the exception of Perry> Charles.

Honestly, I know the importance of Buckey, I love "Grace," but I think its a little high placement in this top.

Well, he is far more skilled and original than anyone the rest. That's half the criteria right there in his favor. And as far as acclaim and influence go, he does have a great deal for someone only having released one album. He's one of the most acclaimed singers of the 1990's. And his influence is not crazy wide but there are a fair amount of copycats.

The fact that he only released one album can also help, since "Grace" is highly acclaimed, but fair. More skilled and qualified? Hmm .. I do not know, but it is a good discussion, hehe ... You mentioned 1990's ... I still prefer Vedder and Rose.

Hi gray...

And Jackson and Gaye have had success in places where Perry and Buckley are virtually irrelevant...including the White House where Jackson was invited by a POTUS, plus having had been the guest of Kings,Queens, Princes, and Prime Ministers from around the world.. Have Perry or Buckley been there???...The point is???
