The Show Must Go On is in the key of B Minor (relative minor of D Major). It uses two sharps (F# and C#). Does a D#/Eb fit in that key? NO. Does hitting halfway between Bb and B fit in a key? NO. Does hitting a C5 fit in that key? NO. Adam was OFF-KEY, simple as that. If he was hitting D, B, and C#5 instead, that's in the key! He was hitting notes in the wrong key! That's incorrect notes. You may not hear the wrong notes, but other users on this forum (not just me) can hear them. The VOCAL is supposed to fit in the key of the music (which Adam didn't do on some notes). If the MUSIC was in a different key (either transposed down or up), then Adam would have to sing different notes to fit in the key.

I thought the Eb5s sounded vaguely weird in the song, but I thought it was just because I was expecting lower notes and not because it wasn't in the key.

Well, the D5 that was supposed to be sung (instead of the Eb5), is a lower note! You were expecting that D5!

Does anyone know any sites to download Adam Lambert audio bootlegs/concerts? I just downloaded one (Charlotte-7/2/2010), and Adam sounds great!

Well, yes. But I didn't realize that it might be because it wasn't in the key. And granted, I only have a vague sense of relative pitch for higher notes, and I get easily get confused by notes that are particularly darkly shaded, with a lot of rasp or strain, or notes that are very bright. So it just as easily have been the fact that his highs are usually on the bright side, which means that his highs tend to sound higher than they are, so the difference between the D5s from the studio version and the Eb5s that he sang is even more incongruous than I was expecting.

Interesting to learn something new, though.

You should be able to find anything you want related to Adam from pre-Idol to now on this site. Incredible amount of material compiled here.

Well, I try to be objective as possible! I'm not dissing Lambert or anything. I think he's a fantastic singer, but there's some performances which I don't personally rate high! If you want to know my favorite Lambert performance, it's that Fantasy Springs 2010 show he did! Absolutely nailed the songs!

Thank you Greg. I DO believe that you are as fair as possible in your critiques of Freddie AND Adam. As I've told you before, while your "gift" of being able to hear every little vocal "imperfection" in a performance is unique, it can be a blessing AND a curse.
As Val said, the EMAs was a very good performance and the REAL truth of that is that Taylor and May were thrilled with it and want to do MORE with Lambert in the future. They have also made the statement that "Adam is the best fit since Freddie" for Queen's music.
Yes, I WAS there LIVE at Fantasy Springs and previously at the Idol performance in San Diego, then after FS, 6 Glam Nation Tour concerts. And yes, FS was my favorite one although mostly for the unexpected bluesy rendition of WLL.All of the concerts were excellent or we'd have stopped going.

As far as what YOU heard with TSMGO, I understand it Greg, if it offended YOUR ears. My main objection (from listening to your discussion about it) was to remarks like "he disgraced himself" etc.... That is NOT an OBJECTIVE comment. And not a view shared by the members of Queen nor by the large majority of the GLOBAL audience. A real DISGRACE would have been if he'd come on stage with a cape, crown and mitar ala Freddie, if he had tried to IMITATE. Thank God he did not. He's immature at times ( aren't ALL men?) But he's not stupid.

I've seen him dissed ONLY on Queen forums/sites. Yet I do believe Freddie himself would have enjoyed Lambert as a singer. And Brian May told him that Freddie "would have gotten a kick out of you" as well.
I thank you for not lumping myself and Val in the "fangirl/boy" category and simply dismissing us as such. I think we can ALL agree that Lambert has had his bad moments (ie: the HORRENDOUS 2009 AMA performance!) UGH!
But all in all...he remains one of the best live male singers in pop/rock today.
I don't think we are in any disagreement about that. Thanks again Greg. :tiphat:

Thanks to the US Government's POLICE ACTION in NZ, Megaupload is seized and shut down. :nono:
Sendspace is still working as of this moment but who knows for how long? UGH! At times like this I'm ashamed to be an American....Thankfully support for SOPA has waned and the bill is DOA right now. But we should remain vigilant against ANY government that attempts to hamper, limit or restrict our internet freedoms! Am I the only one that finds it ironic that just as countries ruled for decades by despots and tyrants are toppling those rulers and setting up more Democratic societies THANKS to the freedom of internet, the world's leading "Democracy" (USA) is challenging those very freedoms that made it a ONCE great Nation?
But good Luck Greg.

I don't remember but don't we have some from the UK here? Another POSSIBLE Queen live performance! Is anyone familiar with this music festival "Sonisphere"?

"There had been some twitter rumors today about Adam and Queen playing a music festival in Knebworth, England called Sonisphere. The story comes from a source claiming to have seen the press release.

The twitter account claimed that Queen with Adam Lambert and Green Day will headline the three day festival in Knebworth this July.

Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, Opeth, Slash, The Offspring, Billy Idol, My Passion, As I Lay Dying, Killing Joke and Seether also appear in the allegedly leaked Sonisphere line up.

The Twitter account posted this tweet before revealing the acts: “FAQ CREDITED SOURCE… the information comes from a pulled press release, via email direct from Kililive..“

"We have been here before have we not people, but at least this involves more than one fandom lol-I’ll take comfort in that."

EDIT: OOPS! Above was ONLY RUMOR! :nono:

"Leaked" Sonisphere Lineup Revealed To Be False Sorry guys.. :ugh:
Posted by Joseph Lee on 01.26.2012

Rumored acts included Green Day and Queen...

A "leaked" lineup for this year's Sonisphere Festival has been revealed to be fake.

The Knebworth festival was "leaked" yesterday on a Twitter account that claimed it had seen a "pulled press release" which came directly from Kilimanjaro, the event's organizers.

The lineup included Green Day and Queen with guest vocalist Adam Lambert as two of the headliners and also included Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, Opeth, Seether, Slash, Billy Idol, The Offspring, My Passion, As I Lay Dying and Killing Joke.

When asked if the festival leaks were false, the spokesman responded: "Completely false."

THEN, on the heels of THAT...comes THIS REPORT:Now THIS (below) is TRUE, Adam says he WILL be doing something with Queen THIS YEAR.

Adam Lambert hints performance with Queen possible in 2012 (Video)

Adam Lambert and Queen came together at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2011 and shared with the world one of the best musical collaborations of the year. Don’t get too discouraged it won’t happen again as Adam Lambert is hinting there is another joint performance for 2012. In a new interview released on Wednesday Adam all but drops the date on when he and Queen will come together for another amazing performance.

"I actually think this year there will be some more Queen stuff," said Adam Lambert during a Yahoo overview of his upcoming album Trespass. "I would just be honored to sing with them again.”

Pressed on when the entertainer will be on the stage again with the famous band and Lambert wasn’t able to dish on any other details as the band has requested, like in the previous performance, the when and where is kept secret.

"Again, I am not allowed to tell,” said Adam Lambert.

While the date might not be known, the fans of Adam Lambert are excited about this possibility as it seems the collaboration last time was not only a surprise, but also delightful. Fans can only wish it will happen for the upcoming Grammy Awards, but even if not, there are plenty of other venues there it would be perfect.

Take a look at the video clip of Adam Lambert talking about his upcoming album and future performances.
