Just heard Shady. Very cool.

I'd like to know what you think of Kickin' In, it's very MJ

very MJ is an understatement. Not bad at all, quite decent, dont love it. Timi, really liked the title track., about as much as Shady.

chorus is pretty bland on Runnin, but the lower register singing in the verses is absolutely fantastic. Possibly the best I've ever heard him singing.

checked out most of the album today. definite improvement over the 1st. Since I actually like the guy for who he is as a person, I wish him the best. When he doesnt oversing, and has the right music backing his voice, it's quite enjoyable

I kinda liked Runnin', actually. Nice little tune.

But yeah I'm with Yousha, we just arent ever gonna be Adam Lambert fans.
Nothing against the guy, but I get practically no emotional resonance from his singing at all.

I REALLY like Mad World though.

 Awesome Greg! I agree! A couple tracks took me a few listens before they settled but now I like all of them. I have faves of course but overall, a very enjoyable album, imo. He's leaving next week for the UK for 2 weeks of rehearsals with Queen!

No one has to actually be a fan, that would be quite forceful and Reich-like, wouldn't it Queenrosered?

And that's OK Neg....Because there are PLENTY of people who do get the resonance from him. We can't ALL agree on everything.Listen to these young fans in Montreal, Canada yesterday! He DEFINITELY resonates with them! :thumb: (They are singing his new single TO HIM, lol)

Fair enough. I probably get more from his voice but it's different to when I listen to Jeff/Tim Buckley or Johnny Cash. But yeah, good on the dude for doing what he loves and all that

As mentioned, Dream Theater are about as flawless and brilliant as a band gets technically, but that's all they have going for them.

Pish-posh, they write great songs as well.

Just listened to the album again. I'm really not liking the title track at all. The main hook just sounds a bit too... simple. Amateur, really. Also, is that REALLY the best beat Pharrell could come up with. Also, Adam can't seem to pull off a decent lower register when singing live to save his life. When doing "Shady" live he sings the upper register and his tone gets a little "wimpy".

"Never Close Our Eyes" has grown on me immensely. His performance of it on the American Idol finale was pretty great. The final scream/riff was spot on as always, of course. I still can't help but feel like his range might have decreased just a tad. or else he might be trying to conserve his voice a bit. He doesn't seem to hit those stratospheric 5th octave notes as easily/frequently as he used to.

Not that I can really fault him for that. He's still one of the most technically skilled male singers I've ever heard.

He's outright said in interviews he purposefully doesn't sing really high or low because he doesn't want to be the guy "who always shows off, goes really high in every song."

From random performances I've heard his range is still very much in tact, he just rarely lets loose.

I not only love the track Never Close My Eyes, if you haven't seen it already the official vevo video has a very unusual twist on the meaning of the words (and great quality sound fulll volume - http://youtu.be/u3dkVk3F57c

Right you are! That E5 towards the end of the Idol NCOE was almost as good as the One note. He's not going super high as often but he sounds much better overall. I don't think the Trespassing songs need super high notes anyway, a lot of the FYE songs were so undercooked that it took him really letting loose live to make them "come to life".

JRB: Best Shady I've heard:

Also agree with you on Trespassing. Really repetitive, doesn't go anywhere...
