No they just play BS here. I am highly reliant on Resident Advisor to find anything interesting myself.

Only heard one song so far (Inspector Nurse), but yes it.

Electronic music really should basically only ever be released as EPs. Nothing is grosser than an hour+ electronic album (mixes occasionally exempt), but in small, tight bursts it can be amazing.

i agree in some cases with that. like id prefer if burial came out with a 3 song, 25 minute EP every 8 months or so than wait 3 years for a full length. but i just got Hurry Up We're Dreaming in my head and it's so straight it's more than an hour.

Yeah most electronic albums are hard to sit through. It's usually for quality rather than quantity reasons though. For example I have an 80 minute homemade mix CD that is this:
Tracks 1-2: Burial & Four Tet - Wolf Cub / Moth
Tracks 3-6: Burial - Street Halo EP
Tracks 6-8: Burial - Kindred EP
Track 9: Burial & Four Tet - "Nova"
and if that were released as an album it would be the best electronic album of the past 5 years. But they wanted to release all that material in single/ep format, so it wasn't.

dance music isn't/was never formatted for the lp, it was only made that way to appeal to crossover audiences where the market is concerned, and of course, at the time that it was coming out it never made sense to press it on anything less. personally, just like most other formats - i have no problem with LP length depending on the nature of the music (dub techno for example, works well when it is literally spaced out and allowed to breathe and grow, whereas something like breakbeat is much less tolerable under similar lengths) - but one thing is for sure, if you go dancing and the music is great, you don't want it to end until you are worn out.

lately i've been checking out a lot of downer mixes because the uptempo stuff just doesn't work as well as i would like when im commuting. i will get to see kevin mcphee and ben ufo tomorrow though so that should compensate.

I am speaking strictly from the standpoint of a home listener because that is what I am.

Re Terje: I have now heard both his two recent EPs. Yes both.

Bag Raiders (the self-titled debut album) is a good example of dance music successfully utilizing the LP format.

Onra track is awesome. Also I'll throw in with those who can't get enough of the new Actress. Dooley's comments are on point.

definitely doing this.

as for purity ring that is really sick. the only station that would play that around here is wfnx and that was sold sadly. im really upset about it. its pretty much the only good station around here.
