Of course, lots of examples in movies. My favorite somewhat recent one was Gui Boratto's "Take My Breath Away", which I didn't even think that much of when I heard it on the album (I thought "No Turning Back" was the clear anthem). But then within the context of a sequence in The Great Beauty, it became this evocative revelation that I never knew it could be.

Another huge one is Family of the Year's "Hero" in Boyhood. Surely a corny piece of sentiment without Boyhood, but now it's interjected with a surplus of emotional and profound life-affriming baggage through the context of the film.

Imagine "Bound 2" on a different album. It wouldn't have the same earth-shattering effect.

It's okay, but the single is not just an edit of the LP version. It's an entirely different version. Same thing with REBEL REBEL by Bowie, but I prefer the LP version that starts with the guitar riff intro. The single version below starts with a vocal intro, is about a minute shorter, and has background vocals that are not on the LP version, maybe it's because classic rock radio favors longer tracks and because of they are staples on the radio most people have become more familiar with those versions.

Think of a song you love, a personal 10/10.

If you heard the exact same version (studio, live, whatever) while listening to an unrelated album, such as a movie soundtrack, could your rating of the song change, perhaps in relation to the other album?

No, not if it's the exact same version.

Now, if the LP version is longer, or even a different recording, it's possible.

I rate the single version of "All Right Now" by Free as better than the LP version, which is not only much longer, but is an entirely different recording.

"Love, Reign O'er Me" is an incredible song on its own that gets a 10 from me, but listening to it in the context of Quadrophenia elevates it to an 11. In that context it sometimes feels like the pinnacle of human expression.
