Maybe will catch a $ screening of Furious 7 today. Will I be able to enjoy it if I have only seen the first and remember nothing about it. I am up for just some crazy action filmmaking.

the first one is irrelevant tbh. the current storyline stems from furious 5. but even then you should be fine. the action is insane, though unlike mad max you can definitely tell what is and isn't CGI.

was just on box office mojo and noticed that while box office records are being broken left and right these days, the most recent film to enter the top ten in terms of tickets sold is titanic, which was 18 years ago. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/ad ... r=1&p=.htm

i feel like if star wars is in any way good it has a chance at doing top ten numbers in terms of tickets sold. it's almost pointless talking about the expected box office as it goes without saying it will be an enormous hit.

When listing the all time box office champs, failing to adjust for inflation is really just stupid. If you don't do that, your list is wrong. End of.

'The Conversation' and 'Blow Out' and 'Rear Window' are all centered around a similiar plot device: an innocent person becomes privy to a murder (or a murder plot). But this is not a particularly unique plot device, I swear I must have seen it 2 or 3 other times. I'm just trying to think of where or find other examples.

Happy to hear that Spielberg is doing scifi again though this title/idea does not inspire confidence in me

It's based on a fairly popular book if that helps in the confidence department.

Re: recent discussions on Banksy in other threads, what are thoughts on Exit Through the Gift Shop? I watched it a few months ago and thought it was a highly entertaining meta-level piece of art, in a similar vein as Pale Fire (though definitely not quite there quality-wise)

I loved it. Very nice little thought piece on what being an artist is/might be/ought to be about. What did we learn? Did we learn anything? Is there, in fact, anything we can say for sure about art and the artist? That's kinda what I took away from that movie and I will probably rewatch that film somewhere down the line as I hone my own skills as a filmmaker.

So excited for The Hateful Eight. I haven't been this excited to see a new movie in the theater since Sam Raimi's first Spider-Man.

Hmm, here's the best I've got for that:

About Schmidt
The Fifth Element
World of Tomorrow
The Rocketeer
My Neighbor Totoro
Fish Story
Small Soldiers
The Toxic Avenger
Paper Moon
A Little Princess
Any of the Wallace & Gromit shorts
Any episodes of Angry Video Game Nerd you haven't seen

Or you could watch Fury Road again

what exactly qualifies as an anti-depression movie? Like the subject matter or the effect?
