Super hella psyched for Hou's The Assassin.

Also it's great to see a new Todd Haynes coming up. High hopes.

Also yay for new Koreeda and Jia. I hope Van Sant makes another great film. It's been a while.

This'll be an interesting year. Nothing up there screams big as if there was a true frontrunner. I'd also like to know what pushes the Coens buttons. They don't comment on movies that much and when they do, it's usually the classics everyone else likes

Apparently two films that I worked on are going to Cannes. Ha, we'll see how that goes.

Nothing special, student films. They're actually pretty bad lol but whatever, not like I'm gonna go to France for it like some other people.

short film corner? my friend got into that and was convinced it was really hard to get in, but as long as you pay the fee to submit, chances are you probs will get in. He was convinced he was hot shit.

He's pretty ignorant to the truth of it still, but more power to him.

Yeah I mean he actually scrambled enough money to go to the actual festival and had the time of his life. You also get access to events in Cannes that the normal filmgoing public wouldnt. He came back super motivated about film being in his life because he finally got to live in a world amongst people who truly live and breathe film culture. So I definitely envy that aspect of it all. Most of his cannes stories are about hooking up with girls and partying and I used to always be like, what about the movies man, the movies? But now if I ever went, I'd probably just want to party most of the time.

That was 5 years ago. Now he's a dishwasher in North Hollywood lol

I know for certain this pilot-ish short called BFFs is there. It's meh, definitely not Cannes worthy, but at least it was fun to work on.

ignatiy has been doing good updates on this year's festival. Had no idea Apichatpong submitted a film this year. It's playing in the Un Certain Regard circuit, which are almost always more interesting films.

it's an upset! holy shit!

Actually no it's not, any film could've won. Have only seen Audiard's A Prophet and Rust and Bone, both of which were pretty good.

On a side note, Koreeda has been getting his worst reviews yet for his film. Oh let it not be true. Koreeda my baby.
