I refuse to think Endgame is the #1 movie of the year. Parasite and the Irishman are much better films that will hold up better. I get how successful it is and how much of a phenomenon it is right now, but I really don't think it is the BEST movie of the year....

I am not saying it's best film of the year but judging by criteria I would think gap in popularity is much bigger than in acclaim given that Endgame was actually very well-recieved. Influence is still up in the air for such recent movies and so are lasting acclaim and popularity.

By its numbers Two Towers could easily have been #1. But since it's pretty much only the least adored LotR while City of God was a surprise success and The Pianist a late return to form for Polanski, I figured it could at least be behind these two. So, I'm with you here.
