From a friend of mine. What do you think about it?

I think its wrong. Clapton may have been recorded using it first but Hendrix was far more inventive and creative with it, and Clapton's use of it may have been immediately influential but for the most part people who have used it over the past 40 years are far more influenced by Hendrix's use of it.

I disagree. I think that George is right.

IMO Clapton´s way is the standard when playing wah wah.

Voodoo Child is far more influential and important a guitar track than White Room.

When did White Room ever win a forum tournament, eh?

Nah, classic rock was always gonna dominate, and Hendrix was as good a shout as any to win it all.

Along maybe, Purple Haze no way. First it wasn't nominated, second it's nowhere near as good as Voodoo.

Knowing DDD I was expecting Radiohead or Dylan to win it.

While almost everyone loves both those artists very few agree on what they're favorite songs are. Hendrix is one of the few guys where most everyone (DDD and non-DDD) really digs him but only love a few songs (AATW and Voodoo mostly) but only a few really get intimate with his whole catalogue, so it makes sense, I guess, to me.

Yes but you'd think if Voodoo Child and Desolation Eow were up against each other, you'd know which would win.

I disagree with you. I think most guys that make extensive use of the way follow the Hendrix route of using it to explore textures and make a song more intense, either when repeating a chord of group of notes a few times, or when shredding and playing fast. I'm thinking of guys like Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, guys that like to make songs intense. Clapton only used it on a few songs, and he didn't do much with it but just make the notes sound cool, other than that it was a regular solo, not nearly as many people follow Clapton in that sense.
