I posted this about ten pages ago... I can't believe we're having this argument again

Because he helped establish a sonically-heavy/technically-proficient form of music which helped pave the way for heavy metal, he was a great influence on funk-metal (and John Frusciante !!!) and was a big psychedelic rock artist. Clapton has more or less played blues-rock all his life.

Do you even know what versatility is? It's about how many different genres you can play in. Clapton plays rock with elements of the blues. That's all he's ever done.

a.)You took what I said and turned it into a bizarre absolute.
b.) Clapton's heart may be rooted in the blues, but his music is rooted in rock. I've never seen Clapton play blues like B.B. King or T-Bone Walker.
c.) This doesn't affect his versatility at all. He plays blues-rock, always has, always will. Hendrix is more versatile.

Clapton is both, a top tier rock guitarist and blues guitarist and he is highly respected and acclaim within both genres.

I'm sick of arguing about Clapton's supposed win over Hendrix in versatility. I asked you why Clapton was at #2. Why is he?
