A parody doesn't have to be for comedic effect.

American Idol isn't till Wednesday.

Legendary status: As already pointed out, Cobain didn't destroy music before him. He was part of a movement, which he popularized and which didn't have anything specifically to do with his guitartone, that ushered a new style of music to the mainstream, but the others posted many a referance to bands that persisted and Pantera themselves did nothing but gain popularity through grunge's haydays. Therefore, Cobain the musicians wins, but Dimebag the guitarist wins.

No. I have presented external sources that agree with me. Why don´t you present some sources that agrees with you?

To say that his guitar tone have nothing to do with the Grunge movement is pure ignorance. The grunge movement started with SLTS. As mentioned before (and backed up by external sources), that song is a as important as any other great guitar song (Purple Haze, Satisfaction, Day Tripper, etc).

Well, you might have noticed that referring to pop magazine lists doesn't exactly carry a whole lot of merit here. Rolling Stones probably less so than anything else. So couldn't you try, like me, and actually refer to specifics in his playing that you believe is creative/original and whatnot.

Also, when did I say that Cobain's guitar tone had nothing to do with grunge? Make arguments based on what I actually write, please. Make arguments based on the criteria, refer to the criteria and the playing of the musician. I've yet to see you do that.

Ok, then say it. Say that Nirvana´s guitar sound is a major element of grunge.

BTW, for this list, it is valid to quote external sources, so get over it.

I don´t give a fuck if is a parody or not. My point is that is a song that shows clearly Nirvana´s guitar style.

I mean, does it sound like Soundgarden, AiC or Pearl Jam? Or course not. It sounds like Nirvana.

I was ready to stop with this Cobain business, but all of you keep on going. Ok. Let´s talk more about Nirvana. Kurt Cobain is the most influential guitarists of the last 20 years:

This one is from a new band, so Cobain´s influence is still present (listen to the chorus):

What don't you understand about Youtube links not being sufficient evidence? Seriously.

You really need to listen to more Alternative Rock/Post-Punk/Hardcore from the 80s, Echoes. You'll then realise that heavily distorted power chords in that style aren't particularly new nor can they all be attributed to Nirvana.
