I think they're pretty close in popularity and cultural significance to be honest, Zach. Fiennes has to his credit: one of the definitive personifications of Nazi evil with his role in Schindler's List, a part in one of the most popular and acclaimed on-screen romances in The English Patient (which is also among the most beloved ánd acclaimed 'chick flicks' of the last 25 years), and several roles in which he made notable use of his icy voice. And I'd say that his role as Lord Voldemort outdoes all the roles of Neeson in terms of populairty and cultural recognition. Neeson's role in the Taken-series does have one of the most recognizable monologues in recent film history, but the way Fiennes shaped Lord Voldemort (with the help of some visual trickery, of course) made him one of the key characters and attractions of the last couple of Harry Potter-films. And Fiennes wins pretty easy in acclaim, I think. His roles in Schindler's List, Quiz Show, Strange Days, The English Patient, Sunshine, The End of the Affair, Red Dragon, The Constant Gardener, In Bruges, The Duchess, The Reader, The Grand Budapest Hotel and A Bigger Splash are all reasonably to very acclaimed. Neeson is mainly acclaimed for three roles: Schindler's List, Michael Collins and Kinsey. Furthermore, I think Fiennes wins in body of work. Neeson's filmography of the past ten years is not very impressive, and we mustn't forget that Neeson regularly plays small roles in big movies. Gangs of New York is a prime example here. It is a very acclaimed film, but Neeson's part is small and isn't a big contribution to the overall acclaim and popularity.

AyaMelie, to conclude my thoughts on your Lee / Schwarzenegger proposal: I don't think they should be on Wayne's level for reasons other posters elloquently explained. I am not opposed to moving Arnie slightly higher but without going overboard because the guy's acting skill is questionable, to put it mildly, even when compared with fellow action heroes. I think Lee is in good spot because immediately above him you have popular performers like Javier Bardem, Matt Damon, Shah Rukh Khan who, unlike Lee, have impressive acting cred.

Sandler's pretty damn popular though and some of his earlier roles are genuinely acclaimed, for example his performance in Punch-Drunk Love. However, I am not opposed to dropping him.
Peter Fonda doesn't have that many significant roles but he's acclaimed and iconic enough to at least be considered for honorable mention, so I guess you are right on that one.
