I personally find it astonishing that we not only came up with the same set of films but that the only differences between our lists are, that you have "Salt" way higher and TQA a little higher than where I have them. Nice.

"Salt" is Noyce's most commercially successful movie so far. Yet its reception was mixed (Ebert isn't everything). Both "Clear and Present Danger" and "Patriot Games" were huge box office hits in their own right. Both held the top spot of the box office charts for two weeks while "Salt" never made it beyond #2. They were both more well received than "Salt", too.

"Dead Calm" wasn't as huge a hit though it did make Nicole Kidman a star and has very significant initial and lasting acclaim. It was also a crucial point in Noyce's career, being his international breakthrough. I'd have it ahead of "Salt" as well. I'm definitely ok with lowering "Newsfront" to #7 though.

Now the top 4: While we both agree that RPF > TQA and that C&PD > PG, I find it difficult to judge these pairs against each other. RPF and TQA clearly are Noyce's most acclaimed works. Yet C&PD (especially) and PG were very well-received, too. PG also has the distinction of being Noyce's first huge international box office success. RPF and TQA got very good press, yet they didn't appear in all that many critics' lists since then. They were also rather aimed at an arthouse audience, which means they didn't perform as well at the box office. TQA's ticket sales never even made its budget back. I'm not even sure RPF should be as high as it is, but I'm very positive TQA can't be higher than #4.

I'd move "Crimes of the Heart" up to #6. It easily beats "Double Jeopardy" in acclaim and was quite popular as well. Then I'd definitely get rid of "Evelyn" and possibly "Pancho Villa" as well in favor of some of his earlier Australian films, which have bigger lasting acclaim but were not as popular internationally. As "Pancho Villa" is very acclaimed in its own right I'm ok with keeping it at #10 but I'd at least have "The Adventures of Barry McKenzie" ahead of it, which kickstarted Beresford's career, was very popular in some countries and had some influence on the Crocodile Dundee films.

10. The Wings

It's close between the top two but I'd probably have "Sir Arne's Treasure" at #1, which I think does slightly better in lasting acclaim and popularity and is considered to be the first true masterpiece of Swedish cinema. Then I'd raise "The Wings" to #7, which is one of the earliest films with a gay theme and I'd probably have "Song of the Scarlet Flower" above "Hotel Imperial". SotSF was way better received.

The top 3 are definitely right. "Dear Wendy" was a pretty huge commercial and critical disaster. I'd say TBWWB should at least be ahead of it, probably "The Biggest Heroes" (and theoretically "Last Round") as well.

AtWi80D takes initial popularity, initial and lasting acclaim over LR. LR takes lasting popularity and maybe influence. I'd say the two should be swapped.

I don't see what it is that qualifies "Sword of Gideon" for the list and I'd replace it with "Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze". The rest looks fine.

This is basically ok. Since MPatHG would be the first film to appear on two different lists, once I send this list to lew I'll ask him whether he's ok with that or whether he would rather include an "Also see Terry Gilliam"-note and "Personal Services" at #5.
