Best scene from the episode? It was close with the final scene but for me Jamie's confession in the bathtub was the winner. Just heartbreaking to listen to him.

That was great, but I don't really understand how that was supposed to be some revelation. Didn't he already say all the toward the beginning of the first season? Hell he even said it to Ned, who shrugged it off.

That scene represents Jamie's transformation from who you thought was just a sociopath, to his true self. I remember reading that part being blown away by how I misread Jamie's character. The foundation of his entire persona has been fabricated by a skewed version of the events leading up to the slaying of King Aerys. Jamie was the youngest member to ever serve on the King's Guard and he had to make a tough decision. And everyone judges him for it when they don't even know the reality.

Nobody believes him, though. He's the dishonorable Kingslayer in everyone's eyes.

He didn't say near all of it (he just said to Robert that he kept saying "burn them all") which hints that it was justified but never in the full gruesome detail and never while just falling apart with bitterness at everyone calling him the Kingslayer.

I understand that, but as a viewer I feel like that action in itself is supposed to completely change my perception, when it was already revealed upfront to us. Now the delivery of the explanation in the last episode sells him in a completely different manner, but I already understood the reasoning for Jamie's actions from the beginning.

Yes but Jamie has never been vulnerable before (well he was a little in the last episode). The why isn't so important as who Jamie truly is inside

Like I said, that's the important part, but the backstory reveal wasn't much of a reveal.

Yep. It's a pivotal moment for one of the most interesting characters, and it was handled beautifully.
