i seriously can't believe HIMYM became so popular. it's just a retread of friends but not nearly as funny/good. i would seriously rather watch will and grace. |

brien and nina like Mr Robot. anyone else? this show is pretentious bombast in the best fincher/aronofsky/boyle way. i love the stylistic excess and the pseudo-edgy tone and the breaking bad-rivaling emotional intensity and twists. i think my only real complaint so far is that it is too predictable in the way conversations are framed and edited in deliberately dissonant ways. soda is there a name for the technique they are using here, with the heads never matching? |

i'm not sure if there's a specific name for the effect/technique, but it's effectiveness cannot be argued with. it's a fantastic way of creating distance between elliot and some other characters even when they're standing a few feet from each other. it reminds me of the scene in the king's speech where the king arrives for his first session. |

Sounds pretty interesting, I think I'll check it out. I'm slowly immersing myself in cyberpunk lit, at a rate of like 1 per 6 months, maybe this will get the ball rolling a bit more. And damn it's on USA? I didn't know that was even a network anymore |

Dreww wrote: Mr Robot I am liking two episodes in. It feels like early Aronofsky plots meets current Fincher style. So I just saw a random episode of that in the gym yesterday on closed captioning (because I couldn't change the channel). It looked marginally interesting but tough to tell |

I saw an episode (the pilot I think) sometime in June and thought it was pretty fantastic. But I really haven't watched that much TV this summer and I'm not absolutely dying to start watching more. Maybe I'll get into it come winter time. |

it's worth getting into, imo. certainly more worthy of our time than season 2 of true detective was. |
