What a marvelously slimy creation that character is. You could practically see the madness leaking out of Gyllenhaal's pores.

I'll second the Enemy vote of confidence. Great film. Drew-core to the core

 , yeah. These are all 10/10 films we're talking about, so it's really hair-splitting ranking them. I reserve the right to change my mind, but for now, the Westerness of The Hateful Eight puts it a split hair above Pulp Fiction.

Yeah. And as much as there may be presentism with your valuation of The Hateful Eight, there may be some nostalgia with my holdout vote for Pulp Fiction, as it's one of the few films which has remained entertaining despite the fact that every aspect of it is emblazoned upon my psyche forever (I've talked before about how it disappointed me that this did not end up being true of The Godfather films, in my case).

I'm seeing The Hateful Eight again tonight, and some may say that's too soon. But when I first saw Pulp Fiction when I was 12 or 13 or 14 or whatever, I remember I just had that one DVD--no Netflix or internet to discover any new movies for "free"--and I pretty much watched that same film over and over again every single time my parents weren't home... this probably went on for at least three months. so if The Hateful Eight can compete with it, it should be able to withstand a mere two nights a row in excellent presentation.

I'll see it again next week if it's still here, if only to solidify my top 10 list with tr00ness

Haven't seen Prisoners, but it's on my list. I'm assuming it's good. Villeneuve hasn't failed me yet.

H8ful was very good, but I'm not sure that I'm as high on it as y'all are. Everything about it was good, I don't care about the piss poor morality of it, but it's too soon for me to proclaim its greatness amongst his filmography.

My favorite IMDB comment on The Hateful Eight so far:

That has got to be the best door in any movie, ever.

The Twins saw Ip Man 3 while we were in HK. They loved it.

I'm still processing it and I'll possibly have more thoughts on the film in the future with a second or third viewing but I think too much of The Hateful Eight is set in a small cabin to really warrant the 70mm. If you ask me Django would have been a better film to do in 70mm if only for the Jackson Hole scenes alone though I admit I'm kind of biased when it comes to those scenes.

Have you seen the digital release?

I think limiting 70mm to just wide shot vistas is going the wrong way. I paraphrase QT and PTA when they say that the greatest special effect is a great actor. Plus there's enough play with visual and aural space in the film to warrant the format. Django lacked the sensuality needed for a great filmic experience too imo.

It's a strange thing based on the content of the Hateful Eight, but I feel QT has matured as a director in very invigorating second-life ways.

So what's this I keep hearing about The Hateful Eight's "morality"? Has Tarantino ever made a film with "good morals"? Do people actually give a shit when there's no good-hearted hero, cause that's very unrealistic in the first place.
