Don't worry curiosity, we're not judging you because of your like of this film.

Rather it's your reputation for being pretty much wrong about everything.

I never disputed that it isn't a film.

I never disputed that many films have been made involving children and similar incidents.

I don't need to see the film to say anything that I have said.

I can judge anybody and make whatever assumptions about their personality that I want.

I do not recognize any distinction between your use of "extreme fascination" and my use of "kicks".

I never disputed that the events which appear to happen in the film are not real.

The individuals who track down killers and pedophiles often have an extreme fascination with the subject matter they specialise in. Does this mean they get their "kicks" from said subject matter?

Knock yourself out with the assumptions on my person. It seems assumption is the entire basis of your argument.

What do you propose - that the film be banned?

No, I propose that the investigation that is being carried out be carried out to its completion as fairly as possible, and I propose that I am allowed to call the creators of the film abhorrent simply by reading about it. Even if no legal wrong doing is found in the creation of the film, I will still consider it abhorrent. If the summary on Wikipedia is accurate, it is impossible that I could not consider the film and everyone who willfully helped in its creation abhorrent.

None of my arguments and assumptions are based on nothing, they are based on things I have read about the film, and they are based on things that you have actually said. Not nothing.

I can understand why Dreww is outraged by this, at least because I can understand why anyone would be.

But Dreww is a strange case because he's also outraged by a lot of things I think are awesome.

And once it has been proven that no wrong-doing has been committed, hopefully you'll drop the "abhorrent" bullshit.

Look, until you've seen the movie, you're essentially speaking out of your asshole. The subject matter is not handled lightly. It's quite obvious (to me, at least) that this film is not intended as entertainment. If you could understand that, it might broaden your mind to it's content a little.

Anyway, I'm not gonna continue arguing about this film with a bunch of people who can't even man up and watch it.

"Man up." Man up to watch the faux-snuff-within-an-arthouse film. I guess I should man up and listen to some Slipknot as well. Anyone who wants to watch this film needs to grow up, and probably grow out of wearing all black.

 Open your mind mate. It's just sad to see somebody dismiss the artistic worth of a film on the basis of content that they disapprove of.

Post subject:  Re: Last Film You Saw And Rate It

I don't need to see it. I've heard it's artistic merits described at length, and I reject that entire theory of artistic merit. It's not just this film and the content. I don't believe in being intellectually shocked by cinema through abstract shock value. I think that is a bullshit, pseudo-intellectual way of making art.

Thankfully, art doesn't have to fit within the arbitrary boundaries people like you try to shoehorn it into.

Post subject:  Re: Last Film You Saw And Rate It

Uh, my boundaries aren't arbitrary, they are specific. And obviously I don't decide the limits of what constitutes art for the whole world, nor would I wish to. I decide it for myself. A Serbian Film for me constitutes art. Just really hopelessly shitty art.

Post subject:  Re: Last Film You Saw And Rate It

That may be your opinion, but as you have developed these views based purely on content that you disapprove of, without having actually seen the film itself... It's a hopelessly shitty opinion.

If most of us made movies. Dreww would hate them, he would certainly hate mine. They would border on "is this guy fucked up or what?" territory definitely.

I don't think there's anything wrong with shocking imagery, and I admittingly have quite a thing for it, but it's at it's most powerful when there's some kind of meaning behind it. If you're just excessively doing things because it's considered offensive then you'll end up with something on the artistic level of your average Family Guy episode.

This film has more than just shock value going for it. It's a very well directed, written, and acted movie. Not at all like the typical exploitation film. Don't take my word for it though - watch it. Even the trailer should be enough to show people that this isn't some half-assed shocker film.
