I wouldn't lean on Olympic gold to further a case, but that's just me.

Looks like another successful year for Roma.

This seems wrong.

Why? Olympic soccer is a joke.

I just don't think it can be discounted entirely.

I can, especially now when nations send youth and their C and D squads. It's less than a Mickey Mouse tournament.

It had historical significance, but now it doesn't. Your overall point is irrelevant. Better arguments factor in head to head records, and winning major tournaments (Word Cup, European Cup, Copa America, etc). I've never heard anyone bring up Olympic soccer victories in any argument in all of my years watching the sport. It just doesn't matter in the modern era.

Olympic football is nowhere near the prestige of the Confederations Cup.

The latter has nations playing their first teams.

The Olympics is an U23 tournament in which many players who qualify for it even don't take part. It is not a full international tournament, it's a youth international tournament.

Look at the German side you beat. That isn't Germany's full international side, it's their U23 side with most of their biggest name U23 players (Draxler, Can, Kimmich) missing.

Exactly. Laughable to even suggest it matters.

You are literally the only person who cares about Olympic soccer. It's taken less seriously than glorified friendly tournaments like the confederations cup.
