I wouldn't say only English players but you're correct about decent, but not world-beating. Firmino and Mane perfectly fall under that category. The only big signing they ever made was Suarez and he's gone already. They treat soccer like baseball which is stupid.

In baseball, when you're rebuilding, you trade your best players for young prospects that end up becoming the future of your franchise. It seems like FSG tried to do this by selling Suarez and spending the return money on half-product youngsters that simply aren't good enough to win you a championship. Soccer isn't baseball and you can't implement a successful strategy from one sport into another. It's stupid and a waste of time. That's what happens when you put clueless Americans that don't care about the sport in charge of one of the biggest football clubs in Europe.
