You say lack of defensive duty in regards to Messi, but a big feature in Barcelona's play since Guardiola took over is the way they press right from the front, and Messi is a big part of that. I'm sure he gives away more fouls than the Barca defence.

Your right, but he plays on a high possession team with probably the best midfield in the world, which enables him to play with such astounding success. That’s why I want to see him play on another team, where he would find himself less comfortable with different responsibilities.

Arsenal have deserved that, I think.

Hopefully the Drog will grab one in the second half, and then Bob's your uncle.

So Far This Season (you guys can do your teams, too)
Arsenal
Almunia - 5+, where did dis nigga go? oh well
Fabianski - 7+
Sezcheneycheyney - 7, only one game, but i thought he played pretty well

Clichy - 7, but he used to play like a 8+. his crosses arent as good, and he gives up a lot of space
Kol-6+ is getting better, and has been better since like week 6
Squal - 6+ same as Kolscieny, but he should have already known by now
Sagna- 9-. to me he is one of the best right backs in the EPL; great crosses, speed, and wins balls back.
Dojourou - 8-, so far ballin
Eboue- 6+ is he still alive?
Gibbs ^

Denilson- 7+, doesnt hold the ball as well as he did last season, but still plays quite well; though he seems to have lost his first team spot.
Song - 9-, people keep talking about Nasri, but Song might be the arsenal player of the year so far
Wilshire - 7, hes good, but at times i think he is not as good as some other players that could have been in
Fabregas - 7+ a pretty average season so far, not really doing much, but then again - injuries.
Rosicky - 7, wins balls back, and his passing is usually top notch, but he hasnt scored in forever; im starting to worry.
Diaby - 7+ was doing well at the beginning. hope he can come back well
Arshavin - 8, very wishy washy. sometimes great, sometimes he doesnt come to play
walcott- 8, almost the same as Arshavin, although a bit more of a slide because he was injured
Nasri- 9, pretty darn good so far. Top three players for Arsenal this season.

Bendtner 6+. probably going to be leaving Arsenal soon
RVP- 6, hasnt played much, only 2 full starts, and has only one goal and that was from a pk. Hope he gets better...and soon.
Chamakah - 8, has been pretty great so far for his position, though he lacks some pretty basic passing skills, he scores with ease it seems at times. Quite a head, too.

Pretty annoyed with that Birmingham goal, but oh well. Glad to see Berba still keeping up his brilliant form.

Spurs need to beat you in mid-Jan =]

eh, I just watched the Birmingham/Manu replay...the Birmingham goal was pretty wicked.

did anyone else see the Giggs' tackle at around 78'? What's the deal with 2-footed tackles...when are they clean? when are they not?

Everton season so far

Tim Howard - 9 Great player so far, has made up for a lot of defensive problems, the reason we still have a good goal difference despite losing all the time
Neville - 6 Hasn't exactly showed up yet
Distin - 7- OK, been more consistent than many others
Jags - 7 Been doing well, definitely needed him against West Ham
Baines 9- Been one of the shining lights so far
Hibbert 6- never been an especially good player,
Fellaini 7- He needs to calm down
Rodwell 7 Been looking okay so far
Heitinga 3 Inconsistent, invisible, out of position, been screwing up arteta and pienaar; :nono:
Arteta 5
Pienaar 5 Been just as bad as Arteta
Bilyaletdinov 5 haven't seen much of him at all this season
Ossie 5 ^
Coleman 8 Been playing great
Cahill 9+ No complaints here
Yakubu 7- Actually can pass the ball, has scored, but he needs to have the ball to do these things
Beckford 7+ Has actually scored more than the Yak and Saha, and important goals as well
Saha 2 Why haven't we sold him and got some money?

The 40th anniversary of the Ibrox disaster is tomorrow and a minutes silence will be observed before Sundays Old Firm game. I hope and pray that the Celtic fans observe this with dignity like they should.

Somehow though I doubt it
