Very tense game! What an inspired substitution from Holga. Doesn't quite compare to 2005 but I'm very happy right now. |

Two games changed and ultimately won by making the right substitutions. Good effort. Seeing the coach piggy backing Tim Cahill after the whistle was the highlight. Gotta love Cahill. Such comittment and passion. Sets the benchmark for effort week in week out. Great example to younger players. |

yeah it was a tense game, some missed opportunities, masterstroke from holga i guess it worked! still plenty of improvement needed but at least we are part of the world cup that's all that really matters to most aussies. |

Brazil don't really have any good strikers now. |

Hulk's pretty good. It makes me wonder why they play him on the wing. |

Was that a penalty? It doesn't matter because a defensive error like that shouldn't happen in the first place. We are playing like this is a friendly match. |

Terrible officiating. Japan can't really complain about that penalty though. |

It wasn't a penalty in my opinion, but it's not like it was a lucky break for Japan. They dominated for the vast majority of the first half. |

I don't disagree that they controlled. I'm talking specifically about the two penalty calls. |

Japan's coach is also Italian. He knows exactly what to do. |

Hats off to Japan for that performance. They outplayed us and deserved a win. Absolutely terrible performance from Italy tonight. The formation was completely wrong. It seems like Prandelli and Italy have taken a big step backwards. I haven't seen our defense this unorganized since 2010. Why use Maggio in a 4 man defense (he has failed there millions of times)? Why Aquilani and Montolivo? Prandelli may be excellent at getting the most out of his players, but he is really proving to be disappointment tactically. |
