So 2013 outlook for the cards...

So Berkman definitely won't be back, I get that he's older, but he's got a great bat and he's no worse an outfielder than Holliday...but it's the NL so jomo is right, there's not really any room. Lohse is sort of signable. I think the cards would offer him 3yrs/$45mil max. A lot of people in St. Louis have been waiting a long time for him to pitch the way he did this year...unfortunately he waited until UFA. Rosenthal, Lynn, Kelly, and miller can't continue to make $480,000 a year, so hopefully those guys pan out, but I don't know how good those guys actually are. Rosenthal is definitely my favorite out of that bunch. Plus, carp and wainwright get a full offseason

I still love the line-up. I might actually put it like this

1 furcal
2 jay
3 Beltran
4 Craig
5 Holliday
6 Molina
7 freese
8 descalso
9 carpenter

That might change after I get a better look at the UFA list. With so many bats, freese or descalso can be sacrificed for some fucking defense.

Your offense was actually pretty damn good this year.

true, I actually remember the Giants having the best hitting outfield in the national league before Melky got suspended for bad web design

Takeya Nakamura is a Japanese baseball player, an infielder with some nice pop in his bat. Anyway he comes in at 5'9 225, and his nickname is "Okawari-kun," which apparently means "seconds" or "another helping"

Marlins Trade Entire Team to Blue Jays for Yunel Escobar

first thought: what in the actual fuck is this

second thought: oh man it sure is surprising that the Florida Marlins would stage a fire sale!

Pretty infuriating. Everything they did with the stadium, essentially lying about how much they're making to, for all intents and purposes, steal a half a billion dollars from Miami is disgusting...the ridiculous way the Reyes contract and especially the buehrle were backloaded (not normal back loading)...it's a giant fucking hoodwink. USA today put it best when they called the marlins a ponzi scheme

Not at all surprised, sucks for Trout. I saw some idiot gave Trout a fucking third place vote and voted Beltre second. I love Beltre and he was fantastic this year but come on.
