Strauss just hits 3 boundaries in an over to rub it in. England were pulling off screamers in slips yesterday and we miss a regulation one!

Has any of the other aussies seen Warnies talk show? I watched part of it last night...he's a pretty bad interviewer and I doubt the show will last but I was interested to see his interview of Ponting. He asked him who was his toughest ever opponent. Pontings answer: Harbhajan Singh! Interesting.

I think a Test Championship would be good, though it would be hard to implement properly. Too much flying around the world.

I think they should just organise it every 2 or 3 years to be played all in the one place (maybe in the country of the number 1 side). Could just have 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 with a final. Or longer with each side playing each other once followed by a final.

Something that's puzzled me for a while - just what exactly does David Hussey have to do to get a game in test cricket?

 Athers was far too animated on commentary about that wicket for my liking.

Become 5 years younger.

It seems pretty silly doesn't it. His first class average is 55. They like to blood a lot of player through ODI cricket and he hasn't performed so well in them (though he has done very well in 20/20). I guess when they were looking for a new number 6 a couple of years ago they went for North instead of D Hussey. Probably made the wrong decision.

Mint, borracho, rv, or whoever can field this question, who have you guys got as the English voice on channel 9? Or are you not bothering?

ponting's field settings for hilfenhaus leave me very confused. 7-2 field for a swing bowler trying to attack the stumps. huss finally snaffles one. totally misread that one yesterday.

nick, mark nicholas and i wish you'd take him back. he's fucking terrible.

edit: channel 9 is pretty atrocious in general though. much prefer grandstand radio.

I did wonder if they look at his excellent record and county cricket and are still dismissing that competition as shit, which is probably a little outdated. But then again his record in Shield cricket is also excellent isn't it, so that doesn't explain it away. As far as North & D Hussey went in county cricket, no comparison. D Hussey is an absolute run machine for Nottinghamshire, whereas North's had a couple of counties in more short term stints and never pulled up trees really. D Hussey is what, 32? You'd get another 4 top years out of him I'd say, about 40 odd tests. If you're bringing in a few youngsters I'd bring in someone medium term like him to bridge the gap.

I must be seeing things. It just looked like Johnson swung the ball back into the right hander and got Trott out lbw.

Mark Nicholas is well known to us here, you're right he's absolutely diabolical. He's the sort that would get animated about the morning papers arriving.

Does grandstand radio feature Jim Maxwell etc?

What did I tell you yesterday, about Johnson's confidence being boosted by a nice fifty with the bat?
