I am very pleased with the Texans first round pick DeAndre Hopkins. Oddly accomplished route runner. They needed WR help and they got it.

i'll admit i'm not football expert, but can someone explain to me how Tebow goes from the starter on a playoff team to having the question of whether or not a team will even sign him as a third stringer? is this "the media attention creates a distraction" thing serious? sounds like horseshit media hype to me. how the hell can this guy not even get a chance? what is his starting record? am i really supposed to believe he's just the luckiest man on the planet? i'm not even arguing for him to be a starter. i'm just wandering why there is even the possibility that the worst teams in the league will pass over him as a third string QB.

He's definitely not QB material but he should be on a football team. I think the media hype stuff is a thing that teams don't want to deal with since he's not a NFL-quality starter.

Why would you want him as a 3rd string QB? What benefit does he bring to your team? 3rd string QBs usually are just emergency QBs so you can't use them for any other purpose (unless you want to burn a valuable in game roster spot that could go to a more useful player). He has no business being on any team with shaky QBs because of the media circus. He also can't execute the offense of most teams with a good QB. He's actually not even a good runner by advanced metrics. And he's not even that good at the read option at the NFL level (because the threat of his throw is non-credible). He's just a lousy QB. He won with the Broncos largely because of small sample size luck and because they devised an (ineffective largely) offense around him later in the year. Also because he had extremely good offensive talent around him.

So in sum only a good team with a good QB should bother using him because of the distraction he creates. But those teams have little need for him. So basically why give him a roster spot.

No he doesn't. He just doesn't have an NFL skill set.

And refuses to play as a 3rd down back or tight end. Had he agreed to take up either position he would be in camp somewhere this summer, but he's been, up to this point at least, completely against the idea.

When I'm king of America, airing anything football-related on TV between Valentine's Day and September 1st will be a capital offense. The draft will be conducted the same way as the papal elections but any reporter who camps outside the building will be shot on sight.

It's the worst thing on television. That said, if people want to watch it, they can. I don't really care.

I've successfully cut ESPN completely out of my diet. Then I get on the local paper and the fucking NFL draft is on the front page. I can't get away from it.

OK this article is about the biggest amount of arrant nonsense of all time (from a usually good writer). First his premise is wrong. A Pro-bowl to all pro caliber player is always more valuable than a coach. Always. 100% of the time. Coaches value is sickeningly overrated.
